I beg you, please look over my letter (asking for probation)

Are you still on campus? If that were the case, I would both email it on Monday AND walk a printed copy over to the correct office.

Actually, communicating on Monday is a point in your favor. It looks like you are taking this seriously and are respecting their deadline. Far, far better to have it in on Monday than to gallop it in at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Think about the folks reviewing these letters. You are not going to be the only student who is under review. Probably, the committee starts off kinda open minded – but that has to start sinking a bit as they read letter after letter (some of which will certainly be whiney). So, your letter, fresh and early and taking responsibility and having a plan can be a great start to their review week.

I think early in the week works in your favor. Good luck!

I’ve tried sending private messages to individual members but it doesn’t look like it went through. What’s up with it?

I didn’t read it, but if it’s not in there, I suggest you say the truth that you did not mange your time correctly and here are the reasons why…and here is what you’ll do different if they allow you to stay…

and make it shorter.

My suggestion is to send the email but also stick a hard copy in the snail mailbox on Monday.

GOOD News!!! Thanks be to the God of Heaven and Earth. The King of kings!!!

Here’s a copy and paste directly from the e-mail:

The Academic Progress Committee has reviewed your dismissal appeal. Your appeal has been conditionally granted and you are reinstated on academic probation for the next semester. Please be aware that if your plans change and you do not return next semester – for whatever reasons – your record will reflect that you have been academically dismissed from SUNY Plattsburgh. Otherwise, you may find the included Suggestions for Students on Academic Probation helpful as you review your strategies for a successful semester.

Thank you all sooooooooooo much!!! God bless you all for the time invested into helping me with my letter. I gave a good thought to everything from changing majors, career paths, studying methods and things will change. Thank you all!!!

Congratulations! Return to Plattsburgh with a new outlook along with the ambition and determination needed to succeed.

Conditionally granted–now it’s up to you to make magic happen through your hard work.

Congrats. Now don’t **** it up.
I had a friend on AP and he didn’t really mention it to any of his friends. Especially not the more responsible ones, so nobody noticed that he was partying all the time and generally blowing off class. Now he’s no longer a student. My advice is tell the friends you know will get on your case about not doing what you should, and if your mother is anything like mine, letting her know about assignments and tests guarantees constant nagging about them via phone and text. You need someone who will give you a kick in the ass if you’re slipping. Hopefully in later semesters you can do this yourself, but for this semester, make sure you have someone else so you don’t have just yourself to answer to.

Yeah!!! Docarson, you obviously care about staying there and doing well and that makes all the difference. It won’t be easy street, but you now have a second chance. Best of luck in the fall and thank you for letting us know.
