I can answer any question you have about UBC

As mentioned above, I can do that since I have been here for three years now. Just keep the questions coming, and I try my best to answer them as soon as I can.

What kind of grades do A level students have there?
And what grades are required for a scholarship?

Do you know any friends that got into UBC Dual degree program with Science Po? How was it? I just got selected for the interview for this program and I am pretty nervous about it! Can you please give me some information? Thank you

How prestigious is the UBC International Economics Program? Can you give me some stats?

Hey @Jimmy19961226 Congratulations! :smiley: I have been selected for interview too. Pretty nervous. What campus did you apply to? I applied for the Le campus (East Asian campus). When is your interview by the way?

How does self reporting work for BC students? Is it true you need to upload your transcript, report card, and also input your grades separately?

He’s ignoring this thread. I don’t think he cares anyway.

@amileey, I know last year my son received ‘predicted’ grades from his teachers at school and then he self-reported these online. This allowed him to be accepted early and they provided an estimate of scholarship he would receive. Of course the acceptance and scholarship were based on these grades so could change if the actual final grades were different from the predicted grades.

@BCVIOLINMOM‌ Thank you, gives me a clear idea now. Checked the website also and it basically repeats what you said, except in more detail. And @DarkEclipse‌ I think so too. About your question, I believe that it depends on what kind of work habits you have- there’s some students who get 90%+ average and others who just stay on the high eighties side. I know UBC is way harder than UBCO though, so things may vary. An entrance scholarship usually needs an average of at least 94% or above. Easier to get one at Okanagan Campus compared to Vancouver. Could vary, it depends on the program and specific scholarship. Sorry I could not help more.

@amiieey‌ Thanks! Since I’m in A level, we get grades (A*, A, B, C, D, E), not percentages. Do you know where I might get that information? Right now, I have a GPA of 3.96/4.00, and I’m an international student from India. Thanks a lot for your help, I’ve been waiting for over a month for an answer.

@Darkeclipse No problem!! I haven’t really looked into grade levels but is it British-patterned education? I found some program requirements and stuff with international high schools here: http://you.ubc.ca/admissions/international-highschools/british-education/ . I believe with that GPA, you have no problem getting in. I don’t know if they accept at different times for international students but if it makes you feel better, I’m a BC high school student and they haven’t sent out acceptances at all yet. They come in May or around then.

@amiieey‌ Yep, it’s British Patterned. Thanks for all your help, and good luck!

My Daughter was accepted to a Program in the Department of Forestry (Conservation). Her first choice was Science where she was not accepted. Would she be able to take core classes needed for pre-med in her first year and change programs after a semester or two to another program? She is not too sure about a career in forestry but would be absolutely thrilled to attend UBC.

@DarkEclipse‌: sorry for getting back this late! It’s difficult to give particular A level grades required for scholarship but it depends on the cohort that you’re in and the type of scholarship you applied for. The range of scholarships available for international students are pretty much limited. Entrance scholarships, which are one of the only few available for international students like you, tend to be very competitive since it’s open to everyone who applied. Since you got 3.96/4, I’d say you stand a pretty good chance.

@Jimmy19961226: I don’t know anyone in that program but it depends on which campus you applied to. Competitiveness depends pretty much on the popularity of and the academic requirements of the campus you applied to. From what I heard, Reims is pretty competitive to get into. Good luck for your interview!

@averagejoe23‌ Thanks!
