I didn't apply because I didn't think I'd get accepted as a guaranteed admissions applicant. Now I'm

Hello everyone,

So this is my story. I went to Penn State - U Park for two years as a bio major but then left after deciding to change majors (to Electrical Engineering) and having a pretty rough sophomore year. That second brought down my GPA to a 2.33, because I left the country for 5 weeks in the middle of the semester and got a couple Fs. One F was for basic Arabic, a language I’m fluent in.

Anyways, after that year, due to the high cost of tuition I moved back to VA and enrolled at Nova (NVCC) as an EE major. This semester is my last semester and currently I have a 3.34 GPA but if things go smoothly this semester I would end up receiving my associates degree with a gpa of almost 3.5. I applied to Vtech for early admission and was accepted last month with my stats, although I informed them of my circumstances at penn state. VT’s GAA engineering requirements were a gpa of 3.2 etc and UVA’s is a 3.4 which I most likely would easily satisfy by the end of this semester.

The thing is I never applied to UVA. Because it was my understanding that they would seriously take my PSU transcript into account (the application is cumulative right?) despite me satisfying their GAA requirements at NVCC. But now that’s it’s too late I feel like I might’ve made a mistake. What do you guys think? I just wanna feel like I didn’t goof up big time by making that assumption.

I can’t comment on your application status, but I will say that going to VT for EE would be a fine option. Don’t over think it. You are where you are. Take advantage of what you have been offered and be your best self.

Lol it’s so odd but I actually want to be told I had little chance at getting accepted, you know?

No one can guess what might have happened if you had applied to UVA, but congratulations on the offer from Tech!
