i don't know how to dance

There. I got it out of my system. The wonders of an online forum.

sounds like something for postsecret.com. anyway, not everyone can dance, so don't feel bad. it doesn't mean you can't try anyway. god knows how many people i've seen dancin that shouldn't be. but they have fun with it. pay me and i'll teach you.

I'm taking a salsa class for PE. They've also got jazz, modern, Indian, and African. Plus, MIT offers swing dance lessons to Wellesley girls.

me neither. unless i've had a few drinks. most people cant dance anyways, and they're too busy worrying about how they look to notice what youre doing.

I was forced to dance at my cousin's wedding, even though I don't know how. It seems to me that dancing is just pretending to stomp on imaginary bugs and at the same time trying to squash imaginary bugs between your hands.

Neither can half the people at my school.

It's getting frustrating.

I need a competent dancing partner!

Argh, but there's dance lessons in the commons in November . . .

what kind of dancing are you guys talking about. hip hop, salsa, just random dancing....?

if it makes you feel better, there isnt any specific way to even dance- it's all about releasing yourself :)

Don't feel bad, a lot of people can't dance. Often I'm glad that I can walk without falling over, I don't want to complicate things with dancing. :)

neiether do I

Take dance classes.

Dancing is for drug addicts and alchoholics who go to clubs. Il pass.

What are you talking about llama?! Dancing is fun!

In what world?

I can't dance, and I suck at DDR, though my friends love me for it :)

Oh, and I'm Asian, which is like a disgrace. My best friend who is white and does DDR in tournaments was like dude, you need to learn how to DDR, you gotta keep up the Asian rep. Just go Japan, and DDR is like a sport. Or go to a school like Northwestern, where there are a lotta Asians and everyone does DDR. I doubt that all of them are amazing at it though. Just try your best, I do.

DDR is far from dancing, to get a better picture of real dancing, stay as far away from DDR as possible.

not all dancing is done in clubs. and if it is, not all clubs are just for grinding and getting wasted.

i agree. i swear, i have white and asian friends that simply can't dance, but they can do DDR for days. they don't have natural rythm but put arrows instructing their feet and techno music infront of them and then they can hit some moves, though the moves are pretty limited.

ok, time to pull out the stereotypes.

black people -- natural rhythm. they can dance hip hop, breakdance, pop and lock, and do those crazy african/afro-carribean dances, which are awesome.

hispanics -- natural rhythm. they can dance any urban music (hip hop, reggueton), tons of latin dances (salsa, merengue, tango, flamenco...), pop and lock, and of course, breakdancing made famous by the puerto rican, crazylegs.

asians -- they have rhythm, just not for natural dancing. they play the drums extremely well though, and can also breakdance and pop and lock too. there native dances are slow and not too rhythmicy, but pretty.

whites -- hmmm, they can only do choreographed dances, such as the macarena, electric slide, square dance, and the hustle.

btw, those stereotypes were confirmed during a boring hour of lunch which consisted of input from every race afformentioned. and why did i feel the need to say "afformentioned"?
