I don't want to be annoying, but oh well.......

Hi,

I posted this a couple of days ago and only got one response. I don't want to get greedy, but I really really really would like other opinions on particularly my NYU Gallatin RD chances. I want to go there desperately but I'm not really that sure where I stand.

Please share any and all opinions!

Your stats look good. You have enough that you don't need to include random ECs like the trail building, unless it was important to you. Why Galletin? I thought that Galletin is for people who already have a career or want to design their own program. I would suspect that you have an OK chance, but it's not a safety or really easy match.

I do want individualized study so that I can kind of create a "major" that's a hybrid of english, philosophy, and film as I really want to work in this industry and pursue creative writing. I don't think that a traditional major would give me as strong a background and as many opportunities as I would get at Gallatin.

Any other opinions? By OK chance is it like 50-50?

You are on the United Way Board of Directors? The real one???? That would be a major hook, so yes, you'd get in!!!

Fifty fifty chance sounds reasonable to me. Since it's not a traditional program, they will look closely at your conviction in the application. Your essays, interview, recommendations, etc should all indicate that you can handle this, that you can take responsibility for structuring your own education.

The board of directors for my city/area. Not like the really big one. So no hook for me...

Well, that is still a good EC. It shows community involvement, leadership, and ability to function in the adult world.
