And the transfer admissions counselors at UCI haven't opened the message I sent yet. Is that a bad sign? Is anyone else in the same boat?

It takes a few days for them to respond. Give them some time. If not, just call the admissions office then if this course is really important or plays a major impact in your admissions decisions.

I dropped it over a week ago. I was just wondering if it was because they had made decisions and weren’t checking at the moment or because I might’ve not gotten in and they didn’t care to respond :(

But regardless I feel like they would have to check just in case I tried to appeal if I didn’t get in

And I already had my 60 transferable units it was just an academic elective

Don‘t worry, someone asked them about the release date a few days ago, and they said they still working on the evaluation.

So the course you dropped isn’t related to your major or part of IGETC? Then you should be fine.

I talked to my UCI admissions counselor a month ago regarding my drastic schedule change (Dropped 2 major pre-reqs, added 2 major pre-reqs, added a UCI extension course). She told me as long as I didn’t dip below 60 transferable units, I was good.

Also, my major is non impacted AND does not require completion of pre-reqs prior to transferring (Criminology).

I was just accepted today as well…

@BurntCorpse you were notified today! I’m jealous I just want to know already ! :((

but thanks that makes me feel better. I’m not sure whether my major is impacted or not but if the counselor said if you don’t dip under 60 you’re fine thats a huge relief.

What is your major?

@BurntCorpse Social Ecology. I know there is a whole department dedicated to it but I’ve asked all my friends that go there and they haven’t really heard anything about it. PSB is more popular. I’m just worried because of my GPA but hopefully they saw how much I was working and read my personal statement.

My major falls under Social Ecology as well, so I’m sure you’ll be fine. It’s an elective course you dropped and nothing serious like writing, math, or a major pre-req.

Just make sure to check the message center and your transcript (Count all your courses to make sure they are all uc transferable. Also, double check all the courses with your college catalog. I have caught a few courses my counselor told me was uc transferable, but they weren’t…)

@BurntCorpse yeah before I dropped it I went to a counselor and had him map out all my units to make sure I’d be ok (I have 62 transferable without it) Like I said I’m mainly worried about my GPA at this point

I will have 62 units by the end of Spring haha…Hoping to get into a late starting SMC course so I’ll be at 65.

If you need a GPA boost, have you thought about taking a course at a local CC? Plenty of them are starting in 4 days, and I know for sure SMC is still accepting applications for Spring 2014 (I applied 3 days ago and got in).

Check out SMC, Santa Ana College, Santiago Canyon College, and all the LACC. I’m not too sure about the others besides SMC though…

@BurntCorpse I’m already taking 12 units and one of the classes is online on top of working. I know some people can handle that workload but I know my limits Thats why I dropped the course in the first place to avoid hurting my gpa
