I don't know what I'm supposed to feel exactly. I was really emotionally unhealthy for most of the year and I hated working too much. In middle school, I was a straight A student so this feels rather weird. I want to get straight As again though so how would I do that? I want to push my limits, work hard, and get results. I want to go a technical school when I graduate high school but I'd like to get a college degree one day. Also, how would I adjust to being in 9th grade again? Would I be treated differently by my classmates/teachers? I want to know how to deal with awkward situations ahead of time.

I hate to sound condescending, so I’m sorry if I sound that way but you are unlikely to get an answer other than study, do your work, and pay attention because most of the people on these forums are tryhards who do have straight As or mostly As and have never been in your situation.

No, don’t worry, I actually appreciate the honesty. Yeah, I doubt it too but I’m wondering if anyone has any good advice. Makes sense.

Pay attention in class and get alot of sleep. If you’re tired you’re not going to learn anything, and if you pay attention then you won’t have to study as much.

I’ll do that, definitely.

Arrange a meeting with your school counselor before school starts, and ask for lots of help.

Try to identify the problems - did you fail to hand in work, get overwhelmed, cut school? Make a deal to meet with the counselor weekly, to check in and make sure the same problem is not happening again.

Choose courses wisely. Good college prep type courses, not highly advanced for now.

Have you been evaluated for a learning difference? Maybe you should be. Talk to your doctor and parents. School can help there too.

AS SOON AS YOU FEEL OVERWHELMED plant yourself in your counselors office and ask for the help you need - tutors, help with organization, etc.

This is all about learning how to advocate for yourself and get the help you need.

Oh I’m not struggling with depression at all anymore. I don’t think I need much help although I’m not sure what clubs I should join, etc. I think I got overwhelmed.

Definitely, college prep courses would help a lot.

I don’t think I have a learning difference, I do fine in school when I’m not severely depressed.

I dunno, I want to rely on myself. Although, I could go to teachers after and/or before school for help on certain things.

Interesting

Thanks for your advice!

I don’t know how long you struggled with depression for, but always be wary of relapse.

Honestly? You might get treated a little differently, but I can almost guarantee that nobody will care enough to go out of their way to give you problems (if they do, they have some issues of their own). How big/small is your school?

I’m going to try to stay positive and live in the moment as much as possible. Whenever I think of the future, I get super anxious and stressed out and after a while, I get depressed.

Thinking over it, I doubt too many people would treat me differently. My school has 2,300~ kids so I think nobody would really notice.
