I failed an AP calc midterm.

Hmm..

I came to school very out of it today, had a tremendous headache and I failed a calculus midterm. I've gotten straight A's all through high school except for a B this quarter in this very class. I've got a failing midterm grade to compliment it now. Yikes.

Will this raise red flags? I come from an easy school, so will this make me look especially bad?

Could they make an admissions decision based solely on that jutting midterm grade? I'm pretty sure my school sends out midterm grades on the report.

They won't make an admissions decision solely on one grade, don't worry. You're human, you're allowed to have a mess-up or two. Also, talk to your teacher and see if you can't do something to raise that grade even slightly.

Do they even put your midterm grades on your transcript? I think my kids' school just puts the average for each semester. At our school, midterms count 13% of the semester grade. DS failed his French II midterm and final....one grade in the 50s and one in the 60s. The horrible first semester midterm lowered his semester average by all of 4 points (from an 88 to an 84). Not a big deal at all.
