All I’m going to say, is that it’s kind of ridiculous to talk about how bad you feel about feeling better than other people. If you really feel bad about it than shut up and keep it to yourself. Nobody asked to be at your victory parade, nor does anyone care that you got into Duke. You’re going to get there and find that every other incoming freshman is just like you, and you’re not so special after all.

@John117 - I just think that I’ve had a lot more experience with rejection/waitlist/acceptance and I realize that it doesn’t reflect me as a person at all. College acceptances only matter if you let yourself be defined by what college you get into. Look at it this way - you’re going to Duke. No one there is going to care that you got into Duke. So did they. You should stop feeling superior before the people at Duke laugh at you.

Prestige doesn’t matter. If it did, I would be going to Harvard. I mean, it matters, but it’s a pretty poor reason to choose a college.

Umm also because I’m interested in BIOmed engineering. I’ve always dreamed of that. I’ve had one of my best friends go to Duke, and he’s having a super blast–Greek centered colleges are fun as hell. Besides, its in the east coast and its definitely going to be a GREAT experience.
The prestige factor and the opportunities are secondary, but it is important for me too!
lol Do I seriously have to explain myself in so much detail? haha.

Alright, like I said, I’m not happy for being superior. And its certainly not against EVERYONE who didn’t get Duke.

Its over the people at school who bullied me for being a nerd and “jacking off to math equations” or whatever. Its been pretty tough.
All these people resorted to being popular and being drama queens. It was just so sickening. Just because I didn’t have school spirit and no interest in drama, these people thought I was a creep.

I really didn’t like the way people judged me. And now after seeing them struggle for UC Santa Cruz and all while I got Duke and Caltech, I feel really accomplished and a horrible need to shove it in their face.
I don’t want to feel that way, I really don’t. I don’t know what to do anymore…

Today I just got REALLY mad at this kid who thought he was a bigshot. I yelled at him and pointed out that he’s inferior for getting horrible grades and disrupting class and only going to a community college full of talentless idiots.

I’m beating myself over the head right now…

We need to revert back to the original topic. That you feel “disgusted” with yourself. Well, fix it. Stop feeling superior. Here, let me show you why you should stop, becaue otherwise, you come off as a complete d&*( and make people feel like crap. I will attempt to demonstrate.

You, are a freaking moron. Seriously? Duke? Thats the BEST you could do? No ivies? Not even freaking Cornell? And now you can’t even go there because you’re too dumb to qualify for any scholarships? Guess you’re going to have to go to A STATE school. UCLA. You might as well forget about college and head straight to McDonalds for a job application. I am SOOO much better than you. Wow, I didn’t even apply to Duke because that’d be like applying to University of Phoenix online for me. Except unlike you, I probably would get scholarship money at University of Phoenix. Better memorize the mcdonalds menu now. Oh yeah, and dont forget to ask them if they want to supersize it.

I’ll trade you a Duke T-Shirt for your Caltech Acceptance… xD
^I was on the CC forums, and read Natim1’s hill-ah-rious post and then I just…chundered…EVERYWHERE!

Ok, didn’t read your post bc it posted at the same time as I was writing mine. Okay, I understand that desire. It is sad when people get deferred from the state safety (I know many people who have gotten deffered from State University bc they were too lazy to maintain above a 2.0 in hs). So yeah, no offense, but you probably were a little bit this way before the teasing started, otherwise you wouldn’t have been accused of jacking off to math equations? IDK, or maybe the kids at your school are just really big ******s. Just stop caring, okay. Console yourself with the fact that you’re going to Duke and they’re not. Or that you’re going to do well in college, and they, if they don’t change, are not. You’re going to get hired, not them. BUT try to take a page from their book and have a little fun too. There are sources of fun besides academics (or wtv u do). Get drunk, talk tosome peole you wouldn’t talk to otherwise (drunk ppl are usually/mostly very friendly), and just don’t give a crap about them. Okay?

ok wow, the yelling at the guy is a little extreme. but wtv, youre a senior, youre graduating. fresh start starting now. might not make a difference, but at least for college, you’ll be different. i restate what i said earlier. go to a party. might want to go about 1hr after it starts so that ppl are nice and drunk. but make sure ur drunk as well and that they see you drunk. theyre going to like you so much more bc u drink (sorry its true) bc theyll see another side of you.

anonymous: I’m not sure. I can’t decide b/w princeton or harvard. I like boston a lot more than princeton, but IDK. I need to know what princeton has that harvard doesnt and vice versa.
And wow, that JHU is a nice offer. Are you thinking premed? That’d be a tough choice. Especially if oyu had to pay full tuition at Princeton.

Get rid of this view NOW. People are not beneath you because they attend community college and you are going to Duke. Please alter your perspectives. :)
