Hey Everyone.

I just started grade eleven and I'm very disappointed with how last year went. I feel so angry that I didn't push my self harder or get involved. I have a list of colleges I would love to attend but my top one is UCLA.

My scores in 9th and 10th grade were very average. I can't remember my overall percentage for 9th grade (it wasn't too good) but I can remember my percentage for 10th grade. It was 71 percent. Which is very average. I'm from Canada and over here 71 is a B. I know it's a C in the states. I acknowledge I didn't do my best and I take full responsibility for it. I also wasn't very involved last year. I was quite idle. I only participated in 4 clubs. Didn't obtain any leadership positions and I actually didn't really care/have an interest in these clubs. BIG MISTAKE, but this year I am COMPLETELY ready to make a COMPLETE U TURN. I know I messed up BIG time in 9th and 10th grade but this year, I'm aiming for an average in the 90s (Yes, I know you guys are probably thinking I can't do it... but I know when I put my mind to something, I can achieve it). I also want to GET involved in the school and at least obtain leadership positions in at least 4 clubs.

I have my ACT and SAT prep books and I am ready to start studying. I really want to change this year and prove to everyone that I'm not some dumb girl like everyone thinks I am. I know I can do it. I will admit, I do have my doubts at times because I've had so many people (mostly online) tell me I can NEVER/have NO chance of getting to UCLA or Berkeley.. or any good school.

Overall, I have 3 questions.

1.) How many leadership positions does one need to obtain? Is having a leadership position in 4 clubs okay? Or is that too little. (Bare in mind, these 4 clubs are clubs I am genuinely interested in)
2.) Regardless of how bad I did last year... If I get a 90 % and above average this year... Get involved (and some leadership positions), do volunteer work and get hours, Nail my SAT or ACT's... Do I have a chance of getting into a good university like UCLA or Berkeley?
3) DO you guys think I can do it? Have any of you had any experiences like mine or know someone who went through this?
