Hey, I self-studied AP World History and got a 3. Even though a "3" is good, I am an aspiring history major and don't want this score to hinder my chances to get into colleges and more importantly, get scholarships.

I am only in 10th Grade and yes, I was the first student in my class to take an AP exam, but that does not mean that I will have the most APs. Most students in my class will take 3+ APs next year while I am only taking 1. So it might not make a difference if I keep APWH.

I don't think I want retake it either, because my school doesn't offer APWH and I had to take APWH at my local public school. Next year, I might not have transportation to the public school and the public school doesn't always have room for extra kids to take the exam.

don’t cancel a passing score. Colleges don’t look at the AP score; they care about your grade in the actual class and the fact that you took an AP course.

cod4pro-Exactly. AP scores don’t hurt you and barely help, too. The fact that you self-studied will be of mroe importance to the admissions counselors and shows your initiative.

Keep the score, they know the class isn’t at your school and that you self-studied so they won’t be expecting a 5 (not that it matters).

@sa0209: I’m not so sure if that is accurate info. For instance, say you got an A or A+ in your AP course. Getting a 1 or 2 on the AP Exam shows that your AP course was not very challenging or demanding when compared to the AP level nationwide. On the other hand, getting a B or B+ in a course but a 5 on the AP Exam illustrates that while you may have struggled in the AP course, come test time, you really knew your stuff (a growth/improvement of sorts).

Keep it. AP scores are really not a big deal… SAT 1, SAT II, GPA, EC’s etc. are much more important, don’t stress about this one AP Score. especially if you passed
