I didn't do the best in my class, but for sure I thought I got at least a 4! I have taken practice tests multiple times, resulting in 4-5s. I'm trying to get into NYU, so this really really upsets me. How will this affect my chances of getting in?

I'm a junior soon to become a Senior, my other AP scores were:
AP Calculus AB: 5
AP Macroeconomics: 4
AP Microeconomics: 4

AP US History: 3

I am just so mad. and really sad.

**edit: if this is in the wrong section, please move. I don't post in CC all too much. thanks!

A 3 is fine. You can always choose NOT to list it on your Common App if you’re really paranoid. It will definitely not hurt your chances of getting into NYU. I would worry more about the more major parts of your application such as your SAT/ACT, GPA, EC, and essays.

Well yeah, I guess so. But I was reading in another thread that if you have a borderline to low grade in the course (B+ first year of APUSH, 81 (or a B in my school) second year) and you don’t submit the AP score, the app will scream “something went wrong” to admissions. idk. I’m just really stressed out

My D didnt report any AP scores and was accepted at UVA, Hopkins, Tulane, and other great schools. I think you can relax. The thing with APs tests is more about trying to get college credits than admissions. Just taking the classes helps your rigor, and that helps with admissions.

Do NOT worry! You have many other AP scores to make up for it…
Also, as I recall: NYU has a very special “required testing policy”…
(This is from the website)
To be eligible for admission, applicants are expected to submit results from ONE of the following testing options:

The SAT Reasoning Test; or
The ACT with Writing Test; or
Three SAT Subject Test scores; or
Three AP exam scores; or
The International Baccalaureate Diploma; or
Three IB higher-level exam scores (if you are not an IB Diploma candidate);

In addition, other colleges do not look as heavily at the AP scores you report to them as many people would think. The reason for this is because if you just “self-report” them, anyone could easily say they got 5s on everything. When you actually SEND your scores to schools, it costs $$$, which is why people do it after they already know what college they are going to . So don’t worry!

Yay! I got 5 on AP Calculus BC, 5 on AP Chemistry, and 4 on AP Euro!!! And I’m only sophomore! But I just realized AP tests are not that important.
