I got a C in a college class when I was in high school.

So going into my senior year of high school, I took a summer class at my community college and got a C. Now I'm at the community college and when I transfer I am wondering if this C will affect my gpa?

Anyone help?

Only the people in the admissions offices at the places you apply to can tell you how much it matters. Ask them. Yes you can ask! It really is OK.

How do I ask the people in the admissions office

Pick up the phone and call, or send an email. Ask them if this particular grade matters, and if it does, get their recommendation about remediating it.

You also could have a chat about this issue with the Transfer Advisor at your CC. Often they can give very specific advice.

Have you looked at your transcript? It is most likely calculated into your cum GPA (even dual enrollment in high school will be calculated in, so assuming that it will be).

Many cc’s will allow you to retake a course for a higher grade and then drop the lower grade from your transcript. Look up your own cc’s policy. Usually it’s under “grade renewal policy”. And agree with happymom, sit down with a transfer counselor and find out if you have other options as well. One C is not going to hurt you that much, but if there’s a way to remove it from your transcript (by retaking it or other) then a TC is the one who will know.

Yes, that C will be on your transcript. Also, you can only retake D’s and F’s for a higher grade.

I don’t think you can retake c’s at my cc. If I didn’t have that C I would have a 4.0. Hopefully I can get around this
