If you take the class which you have taken before, and you get a better grade than before, will the grade record be replaced by the better grade??
Help me!!

Yes and No. The previous grade will remain on your transcript for whatever schools you're planning on applying to see, BUT for GPA calculation, schools only use the last and (presumably) better grade.

I remember reading that UC's average the two grades, and if you got a C or better the first time they don't count the second. I might be wrong though.

if you get a D or an F in a class you can retake it and then fill out a petition to remove the first grade from your transcript. There will still be an astrisk next to the better grade showing that you re took the class but its better than having a bad grade on there!

The typical way is it stays on your transcript but that doesn't matter. The GPA is by far the most important thing and changing a D to an A for instance is big. The UCs appreciate upward grade trends anyway.

And yes, it's near impossible to retake a class you got a C in for a better grade. A C is considered sufficently passing, therefore according to their logic they don't see why you would take it again. Of course the truth is for a 4 credit course a C can really hurt...an A could make a big difference...but no. Most schools have appeals processes where you can attempt to do it, but just raising your GPA is not enough of a reason (unless you're trying to make a minimum 2.5 thing or something)

I get B on the UC major req. class, so I want to retake the class and get A. Is it possible?
Please give me some advice!!

I'm also certain that you won't be able to through any "normal" means (maybe petitioning?). Don't freak out; one B isn't going to kill you anyway.

Thanks a lot, guys.

Yeah it's not possible...unless you go through a board of exceptions and have really good reasons why you need to do it. And for a B to an A that is just...obsessive compulsive? hah...
