I got a D in one of my major prep classes and I'm in trouble

Took 6 classes this spring semester (regret it now) at LA Mission. I have A’s and B’s in my other classes, except statistics. Math has always been my worst subject, and I’m not that surprised I didn’t do well. i tried as hard as I could, studying and going to tutoring, but it wasn’t enough. I emailed my professor last night about it. She apologized and said she could not do anything else. I don’t put the fault on her, but rather myself.

I’m going to need to take Statistics this summer ASAP before Fall semester, since application season is getting close.
My college has a system where if I repeat a class and get a better grade than my first attempt, it remove my D from my GPA, but it will not remove it from my transcript. Do you think this would be the best situation for me?

I’m going to talk to my counselor ASAP tomorrow about this situation. I know the grade is going to hurt my GPA like hell but I cannot think of any other option. I might lose some of my scholarships because of this as well
I’m a TAP student and Psych major desiring to go to UCLA (but with what happened there might not be a chance anymore)

Please don’t make the same mistake as me!

Hi, don’t blame yourself, you tried hard. Some colleges have classes to help overcoming “math anxiety” during exams. Just like some people cannot speak in public, some people have troubles with math, nothing wrong about that. Just be sure to talk to a counselor to see if they can provide some resources so that next time you take that class, the grade will be different.

Psychology is an impacted major in many universities (not sure about UCLA though), so even if you had passed this class on the first attempt, you would still need to be very competitive to get in. Don’t take this as a tragedy, keep working to get your GPA above 2.0 and get accepted as a transfer student at a UC or a CSU. Good luck!
