I got a letter today dated March 2, could you tell me what your son's said....or anyone who recieved a likely could you describe it to me....thanks

what does your letter say??

I got a letter today too.

Dear Ms. _________,
The Committee on Admission has reviewed your application and found it impressive. Your academic record, as you are probably aware, is unusually strong; so are your achievements outside the classroom. In our experience, students who have distinguished themselves in such a wide range of activities tend to move successfully through their college years and into positions of leadership in their fields of interest. I trust that this will be the case with you and I encourage you to continue challenging yourself.

Please give serious consideration to the University of Virginia as the place where you might continue to grow and thrive. When Thomas Jefferson founded the University in 1819, he envisioned an "academical village" where students and professors would work closely together in the pursuit of learning. While much has changed since Jefferson's day, his original vision still guides us and you will find here men and women who encourage one another to excel.

While visitation is not one of the factors considered in determining admission to UVa, students often find it helpful in making their choice of the college they will ultimately attend. If you have not visited, or if you would like to return for a visit, the Office of Admission is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We conduct information sessions and walking tours for visitors and have available a list of classes that you may attend. Since the schedule of our sessions and tours changes at different times of the year, please check the admission page on our website, www.virginia.edu, for exact information. If you would like to stay overnight in one of the dormitories, that too can be arranged. Please contact the Monroe Society to make arrangements at least two weeks in advance at (434) 924-3321.

The Committee on Admission will make its final decisions by the end of March. In the meantime, we wish you every success as you complete your high school career.

Sincerely,
John A. Blackburn
Dean of Admission

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!!?!?!?!?!
If this is a likely letter, it is the most cryptic thing I've ever received. If not, this is so misleading!!

Wow! Welcome to the University of Virginia! You are there, baby!

wow....congratulations!

yep, that's what the Feb. 15 likely letter said!!

That's the same letter my son received. He didn't think it was as strongly worded as UNC's likely letter - so he wasn't sure it was a "likely" until I told him others had received it too. I also remembered that someone said it would be signed by Dean Blackburn.

Wait seriously this means I got in?!?!?!!?!

yep...congrats!.....well unless you completely screw up second semester

Yay that's so exciting!!!!!
Haha I wasn't expecting this at all I applied to UVa completely on a whim thinking "uh no way I'm getting in OOS."
But wow, that's really really really awesome (and I'm really redundant).

are you kidding...i looked at your stats....you're too modest.
