<p>Congratulations! You have been admitted to the University of Wisconsin. We have mailed your official letter of admission and admission materials.</p>
<p>so i got accepted, i currently go to western illinois university, i have 53 credit hours complete (47 from WIU)</p>
<p>i want to go to grad school afterwards, however i dont know how wisconsin is ranked as an exercise science or economics school?</p>
<p>also to take into account is everyone and everything i know is in macomb, including my girlfriend, which we have a very good thing going and it seems like it could last. so how do i make up my mind? it wouldnt be too bad transfering, as i am in a fraternity at WIU which they have the same chapter at wisconsin, so i could transfer and meet them, but still its not the same.</p>
<p>how big of a difference is it to grad schools for me to attend a tier 1 school as compared to a smaller tier 2 university? especially since UW is a top nationally ranked research school. any ideas? </p>
<p>when jobs look at where you have graduated from, would that also take into account the differences?</p>
<p>also, university of wisconsin is ranked #15 on the AAPKE list of grad schools for exercise science, where as say uconn, penn state, or UoI-chicago are in top 5, will this difference be significant later in life? i think UW would be fine, especially with a phd or masters (whatever i end up getting), and i doubt i would be rejected from a job because my school wasnt good enough you know? </p>
<p>to go:
-better school
-bigger campus/better town
-my favorite college ever (go badgers!)
-would possibly get research experience
-would make getting into a good grad school easier (especially if i apply to UW's grad school)
-bigger parties (come on, im not the only one taking this into account)
-more people (can be good or bad, but lets say its good since ill make more connections)
-very well off chapter of my fraternity at this school (big house, dock on a lake etc, the one i live in is a little rat hole but its the funnest place in the world)
-badger football games (my dream to go to them!)</p>
<p>not to go:
-more expensive
-i feel "at home" at wiu
-i can still get a good degree here, though its not as highly rated or looked upon
-my girlfriend is here
-my fraternity is here, and the people ive "grown up" with in college (they have a chapter of the house at UW, but its different, i dont know them, didnt pledge with any of them etc
-(for atleast this spring semester) i am old enough to get into the bars, which is kinda big because well i love going to bars (anyone wanna play pool? ill win!) it is only one semester though, im 21 in sept.
-WIU is much much cheaper, especially living in my fraternity house. </p>
<p>sure some of my reasons are immature, im well aware, but im being honest into whats playing a role in my decision</p>
<p>one question, if you have a masters or Phd from a good school, does it matter where you got your undergraduate degree from? i want to get a job as a professional trainer, and not just one of those guys at your local gym, im talking celebrity trainer, sports team etc, something big.</p>
<p>"-more expensive
-WIU is much much cheaper, especially living in my fraternity house. "
Same reason
"-i can still get a good degree here, though its not as highly rated or looked upon"
You probably can, but your options will be more limited
"-my girlfriend is here"
Not going to argue that one. If it's a longterm relationship, then it can be hard to break.
"-my fraternity is here, and the people ive "grown up" with in college (they have a chapter of the house at UW, but its different, i dont know them, didnt pledge with any of them etc"
See above. Like you said, they have the same frat at UW, but you don't know how the people there are going to be.
"-(for atleast this spring semester) i am old enough to get into the bars, which is kinda big because well i love going to bars (anyone wanna play pool? ill win!) it is only one semester though, im 21 in sept."
The nightlife is huge at UW.</p>
<p>I think the positives outweigh the negatives. How far is UW from your current school? If it's in within say, 3 hours, you could probably visit your girlfriend on the weekend. You'd only be away for 2 if that serious of a relationship.</p>
<p>Obviously, at first it's going to be difficult to making some adjustments, but I think in the longrun, you are better off at UW. Good luck with your decision.</p>
<p>My cousin went to UW for undergrad/vet school. Sometimes she hated it because of the work involved/COLD... but she survived. =) </p>
<p>I would say go for it. Does your girlfriend live near you? like home home? You'll miss her, but you'll get to see her during holidays/breaks! Or maybe spend a weekend or two at her place during the semester/she can do the same for you.</p>
<p>basically, how big of an impact does the name on your undergrad degree have on youre future when you also attend a top rated graduate program somewhere?
say i go to UoI-UC, tied for number 1 for the best kinesiology grad program, does it matter that i have an undergrad at a small(ish) teaching degree when im applying for positions such as a pro team trainer when i have a top rated grad degree?</p>
