I got admitted for Spring 2011, need help with housing..

I'm confused as to what to do. I don't start school till Spring of 2011 at FSU, but they said the housing is full and there's even a waiting list and it's likely I won't get a space, plus the price for housing is really high...is there anywhere off campus I can get housing for the spring term?
I tried looking for other places but they have a contract for a 12 month lease...I don't need it for Fall since I'm not starting school till the beginning of the January.
Help please?

There are private dorms around the outskirts of campus. If you call and explain, they might rent for just a term instead of a year. (Southgate, Seminole Green, Osceola Village).

Also, there are lots of subleases that become avail in Jan when some students graduate a semester early or late. Watch Craigslist and other places. Watch Facebook, there is a place for listings there. There will be students in a 3 or 4 bedroom apartment or house looking to fill an empty room.

also some students will be doing a semester abroad–I know of one girl who is hoping to go abroad and will need someone to sublease for spring semester.

Let me know if you find anything. My brother is in a similar situation (but for TCC).

How did you already get admitted for Spring?

Students were admitted for Spring 2011 from the class of 2010. When fall of 2010 filled, admissions offered some students a delayed entry for spring. There are always students who do not return after fall term, or who go off to an abroad program. Some students may take a leave of absence for medical or other reasons. Spots open up for Spring. In years pasts, spots also opened up in the Dorms. But this year dorms were filled to capacity with a waitlist.

FSU, UF and many major colleges and universities offer spring admission to those who did not quite qualify for fall admission. Some students want to go to FSU badly enough and will wait a term. Others take an acceptance for fall from their safety.

For those applying for Fall 2011, some of you may be offered Spring 2012 admission.

I also just got accepted for Spring term and looking for a place. I’ve applied to southgate, but if you find something PM me

Along this discussion thread, my daughter is a current FSU student in a dorm and may be interested in moving out for Spring semester - any suggestions on how she should go about requesting to “break” her housing contract without incurring the charges? Is this a common thing?

She might have an opportunity to move into her sorority house which is a considerable savings for us.

She literally has to find someone personally to take over her contract and present them to housing. There is a chance that there is a waiting list and housing will release it, but unlikely. The contract signed was for an entire year.

Wow, which house has room for spring?
