I received a likely letter from a school for athletics. Then, the school contacted me for an interview. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What purpose would this interview have?

My son had this experience last year. He received a LL in October and interviewed in Jan. or Feb. The interviewer didn’t even know he was a recruited athlete.

This interview is probably pretty meaningless, so just do it and enjoy the experience.

Thank you. The interview doesn’t seem to fit into the picture.

The interview process is probably one step. Your name gets on the list with everyone else and goes to the local alum organization. Your application goes in another direction and ends up with a likely. You KNOW how many applications, things go in every direction and they probably never even crossed paths. Another CCer had this happen. Unless you “go postal” at the Starbucks during the interview…I’m sure it’s all good. Don’t sweat it. And congrats.

Just go and have fun.

As everyone else has said, go to the interview! Its your chance to ask questions about the school.
