Well, my local AFA ALO called my and we had a phone interview. He basically praised my application and talked about the academy, etc. I wonder what this means? Is it a good sign?

I dont see how it can be a bad sign..

Everyone is hearing except me!

Jones411,

You should contact your ALO. You do not have to wait for them to contact you.

I haven't heard anything back yet either. Who should I call to locate my ALO?

Your school counselor should know who the ALO is for your area. If they do not know, insist they find out. Also if you are in CAP or JROTC they are good sources of information. If you simply cannot find anyone who knows, contact admissions at USAFA and they can tell you.

To go along with Flymom, they have numbers in the Academy catalog that you can call for you ALO dependent on your region. Here is the link to the downloadable catalog.

Go to the end of the Admissions section.

As a high school counselor (among other things) please don't ever insist that your counselor do anything for you. A kind hearted one will help you as much as possible, but he/she may be helping 200 other students. The information is out there, it's your life, learn to make it happen for yourself. Reserve the insisting for the absolutely essential things like getting your transcript sent to the right place at the right time. If you haven't memorized the info on the academy admissions web site, you need to get to work on that. There are just too many things an academy applicant has to do correctly. Make a chart and a schedule and keep reading as much as you can find out (including this forum) and you will be much more likely to succeed.

Right RTBdad, you are right. I guess "insist" was too harsh of a word. A better word would have been "persistent"--because sometimes the couselors don't know, and in some cases have the wrong name because ALO's get reassigned at times. Thanks for the correction.
