juxtapose means to place side by side. Quid pro means what for, but used in the common phrase 'quid pro quo' it means something for something, approximately.

omg...

I just took the Verbal Practice Test with Princeton Review and I got a ~72 percentile.

I'm freaking out... one week before the test.

Are you guys posting your estimated national percentile or your ssat percentile?

I posted my ssat percentile (practice test).

Okay, so I took the full length practice test with Princeton Review. Here are my scores. (All in percentiles, BTW)

Verbal - 65% (39 out of 60 correct)

Reading - 79% (33 out of 40 correct)

Math - 58% (30 out of 50 correct)

Total - 61% (The avg is actually 67%, though.. but I guess you get marked down for not being consistent)

Obviously, these scores aren't Andover/Exeter/SPS/Deerfield material, so I need some work academically before I can adjust to the intense academic environment, so in a way, I'm glad I'm not applying there this year.

Anyone willing to help me in math, particularly geometry? I don't think I can help verbal much because I think that's something you build up over your whole lifetime, so I don't think I can learn hundreds of words in six days. I'm pretty confident with reading. I feel like I'll do better on the test, though. I made some stupid mistakes on the practice test. I didn't double check my answers. I was too eager to get done.

PS - My percentiles are out of the 2006 edition. For those of you that have the 2007 edition please tell me the scores. (I doubt they've changed much, if at all).

Jonathan, if you had some basic questions about geometry, I can help you. I knew all the geometry that was on the test. What did you miss?

I'll send you a PM.

Jonothan, if your scores are as low as you say they are and you need financial aid you have virtually no chance at any prep school. Why don't you give up on it and get of this board and get a life that you can actually obtain?

rbupe that's just really mean. and he's not applying to the top prep schools this year he is applying to a local day school if i remember correctly.

Telling someone to get a life for being motivated is rather inconsiderate. People apply to boarding schools to better themselves socially and academically, not enter a world where everyone is "naturally" a test-taker. I actually got a 85 on my practice tests a week before the SSAT. Flash cards and some extra reading bumped my score to a 91. I'm just saying that there's nothing wrong with trying to study. Doing English and Math problems, in the long run, will come useful anyway. Isn't that how we learned since elementary school?

While I was taking the practice test I didn't realize that there was a 1/4 point deduction if you get an answer wrong, and there is no penalty if you don't answer a question, so, my new scores are as follows: (Assuming that I wouldn't have answered the questions I know I wouldn't get right).

Scaled/Percentile

Verbal: 323/85%
Math: 313/68%
Reading: 318/94%
Total: 954/78%

I'd be really happy if I got the same verbal and reading scores, but I need to work on my math. I'll take the practice test again tomorrow.

Who studies for the SSAT, wow... It's not really worth anything. I got a 98 percent on it without preparing. It's practically what you know and what you have learned. I took it last year when I was in 8th grade as well. I've done the SATs twice in middle school. I did the PSATs this year and SAT 9.

You came here in 7th grade, what did you hope to achieve?

Why did you take the SAT twice in MIDDLE school? Did you apply to college or something? CTY?

Old SATs, the 1600, and the new SATs, the 2400.

What are you talking about?

I am aplying to Andover Phillips academy the school of my dreams. Here are my SSAT scores.
