i got 2700 from the pell grant and 750 from the state which is 3450 and the tuition is around 3000 so i am wondering here is how do i confirm the pell grant because a few days back i had an email saying i had 1900 and just today another email saying they checked it over and now eligible up to 2700 are there going to be any more changes and if not how do i get this money

The only thing you need to do would typically be sign the award notification and return it to the FA office.

Are you sure the $750 is from the state, not an Academic Competitiveness Grant from the feds? It doesn’t really matter, but if you’re Pell eligible and applied for state aid it would be in addition to the ACG.

Anyway, you do have to accept your FA awards - some schools do it online, or by an automated phone system, so do it by mail. Follow the procedures in the award letter or call and ask.

Your eligibility may have changed due to a change in the Cost of Attendance the school is using. Or your FAFSA EFC may have been changed - ie. if you were verified and they made a correction. You can easily check that by logging back into your fafsa account and looking at your current SAR - changed items will have a symbol, and the new info will be displayed.

Sorry, but you do not get the money. Or at least, not much of it. The money is paid directly to the school who will deduct anything they would otherwise bill you for. For most students that includes tuition, fees, meals and housing. Sounds like you’re a commuter, so housing may not apply but meals might if you sign up for a meal plan for lunches, etc. Sometime shortly after the start of the semester, they will refund you any unused student aid to cover the unbilled expenses - typically transportation, off campus housing (if not living with parents), books, personal expenses, etc.

Your FA office can tell you what your total Cost of Attendance is in detail and give you an estimated date that refunds (if any exist) will be given out. You might ask if they have direct deposit to your checking account available so you don’t have to wait for a check to be issued and picked up/mailed.
