well, i got in and I was the top 30% of my class…but my school is very competitive. Also, I didn’t take as many AP’s as you. I got rejected from ucsd and ucla though. UCSD was very tough this year! I got a 2100 on my SAT and 4.0 gpa weighted. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in, based on all your ec’s.

Well, your gpa is below last year’s average of 4.01 (even though you’re in the top 10%, I believe a high percent of UC applicants usually are). Your act score is about average for UCI, and your ec’s are average (except for the track stuff, which is cool).

I think the fact that your family is low income will help, though i wouldn’t be super optimistic. good luck, though!

"Do they really care about alternate major? I have a feeling that if they can’t admit you to 1st choice then they just reject you. "

Yeah, they do take it into consideration. I applied for Business but got accepted into my alternate major. Also, I don’t believe major is a heavy factor upon your admission. If you can’t get into your major or alternate major, they probably will mark you as undecided.

One more thing guys, I found out yesterday that I was waitlisted at UCSB. Is this suprising?

How are my chances looking at UCI right now since I was waitlisted from UCSB?

I’m think that I have a good chance i’ll get into UCI because i am part of the 1,000-1,500 people how barely didn’t get into UCSB (AKA the waitlist). Plus the fact that UCI will probably admit more applicant than UCSB this year. I assume this because UCI admitted 19.1k applicants VS. UCSB 17.7k last year. A difference of 1400 students which just about the size of the UCSB waitlist. UCSB had 42.5k applicants vs UCI 42.1k

This year UCSB has 43.8k applicants vs. UCI 43.1. A bigger difference than last year. This is another reason why I should have a better chance at UCI than UCSB.

What is logically better than a UCSB waitlist?
An acceptance at UCI or a very high spot on UC Irvine waitlist (if they chose to have one).

I’m sorry if I am confusing you. I have a hard time explaining my deductice reasoning in words. I hope that you understand what I am trying to say.

Please tell me if there are any flaws in my logic.

UC’s are having a lot of rejections this year. I have a 2170 and 4.14 GPA along with TONS of e.c and got rejected to UCLA (also had supplement), rejected from Berkeley (friend checked the directory of leaked admissions), and waitlisted from UCSD. I do however believe that you will get into Irvine and if you don’t, u should surely appeal. You are taking a lot of difficult classes and are in the top of your class, so i would be extremely surprised if you get rejected.

I just found out that I was rejected from UC Irvine.

Tommorow UC Davis and UC Berkeley come out. I am really hoping for Davis. Seeing how random the UC’s are, i wouldn’t be suprised If I got into both, rejected by both or just gettting into UC Berkeley or just getting into UC Davis. Nothing suprises me anymore.
