Ok, so up until my junior year i had perfect grades--meaning straight As. But in my junior year I got a D in AP Physics. My top choices for college are UCLA, USC, UCSD, and UCI. My question is, can i still get into some of these colleges? Or is all hope lost, considering that junior year is the most important year in high school, and is practically the last year that college admission people see (since senior 1st semester grades dont come out later)?

I am in a lot of extra-curriculars (Varsity Girls Golf, JV Girls Basketball, JV/Varsity Girls Track/field, Academic decathlon, community service, etc. etc.)

I am also taking AP Physics again next year (senior year) in an effort to make up the class.

Is it possible for me to redeem myself my senior year (admissions wise) by getting straight As?

I've always had a demanding schedule since freshman year:
9th grade schedule/ grades
--Honors geometry/A/A-
--Honors Bio/A/A+
--Honors Eng./A/A
--P.E./A/A
--Computers/health/A/A
--Spanish 2/A/A

It’ll probably be much harder to get into a selective school like UCLA, because much of admissions into large schools depends on GPA. Might as well apply if you want to go there and see what happens. I think it’s quite possible that they’ll reject you because of the low grades, even if you do well in senior year.

I’d say it def. hurts your chances. You may still get in to those places, but I think they’re kinda reachy now.
You got poor grades exclusively in AP classes, yet you’ve decided to take 5 more next year? What leads you to believe your luck will change?

I think it’ll change next year because I’ve gotten rid of a lot of distractions that were very much prevalent before. I also have my priorities more in order than before and I know how to actually budget my time now. I’ve also toned down my procrastination habits, and know what to expect from an AP courseload. So i think that because of this i will have better grades next year.

Quite honestly my test scores on everything in the classes were good, but i didnt do my work on time–which killed my grades.

well I think if you are applying to those universities you listed, a score of 2180 will definitely get you in (about 85% sure)…see look at [this website](http://www.satprep.ca/sat_scores.asp). Of course you need to makesure the rest of ur app is good too.

With regard to GPA, A D and a C won’t look good, but for UC’s, UCGPA is most important. Assuming your from California, calculate it and see how it compares with the admission statistics. i.e what percentage of students with a 4.0 UCGPA where admitted to UCLA. This assumes competitive SAT ans SAT subject tests, EC’s etc. FWIW, by D was declined with about a 4.0 UCGPA and 200k plus SAT, good EC’s etc, but not much in the way of AP’s and SAT 2’s.
