Hello.
I am a current senior and I have got 7 Bs in total and the rest of my grades are As for high school.
Weighted GPA: 3.85 (Seems low but my school only weights AP classes by adding 10 points and you can’t get over a 4.0 so a natural 100 and 80 are the same for an AP class).
Unweighted GPA: 3.69
HOPE GPA: 3.7
Weighted Numerical Grade average: 92
Unweighted Numerical Grade average: 90
So about my B’s. I only received one freshman year but with an 89 in the class. I then had 5 B’s sophomore year and I slacked off very hard and didn’t take school seriously. Junior year, I only got a B in Language Arts one semester. Junior year grades contradict sophomore year grades hard because I took 3 APs and several harder courses as apposed to taking 1 AP sophomore year. Also, my calculus grades of junior year were over 100 after 10 points and this contradicts my low B’s in precalculus of sophomore year. I am mentioning this to illustrate the amount of ignorance I had 10th grade.
Assume my SAT score is over 1530 (which I plan to have) and my essay, rec letters, and ECs are great.
Instate student by the way.
Intended major: Physics
My APs are…
1 AP freshman year (Biology (3))
1 Sophomore (World History (3))
3 Junior (Calculus BC (5), Physics (5), US history (4))
6 Senior year (Language & Composition, Econ, Gov, Physics C, Comp Sci A, French) Also taking multivariable calculus as math.
I have pretty much all As currently in my classes without the 10 points this year so assuming I do good, how do my chances look? I would say there is a bit of an upward trajectory of my grades since 10th grade since I got mostly 90s as my grades junior year and now natural As.
Also, could you guys tell me how a GPA is normally weighted? I don’t know if honor courses are weighted, otherwise I would get over a 4.0 weighted.
Thanks!
