I am trying to transfer to U of I and may application was filled out about a week ago, how long does it take for a decision?

The “Deferred - Manual Review Required” isn’t bad right?

How do my chances look?

-Transferring 60 hours to Political Science(2.7 GPA Required)
-My last semester GPA was 3.2, overall is 3.1(college GPA, not high school).
-Filled out my application early
-I supposedly qualify for legacy, not 100% sure though. The application asked if any of my parents attended the school(my dad did) but they didnt ask their names or if they graduated.
-I meet the class transfer requirements for the major(i have every class needed to transfer in as a junior)
-I have some volunteer work under my belt but it has been about two years.

I feel kind of screwed when i read about all the people with 3.9 GPA’s who are applying to the school. But then again, those are mostly high school students, so i am not sure if a 3.9 in high school is quite as equal to a 3.9 at college. I can remember that my high school GPA was a lot higher than my college GPA. Really, i don’t know anyone with a GPA higher than a 3.2 who is in my school right now, but i don’t know.

The legacy question on the app is really only for the college's own statistical purposes. Otherwise, UIUC does not consider legacy for admission -- there are far too many applicants who can claim legacy and if it was actually given weight, those who don't have it would have too much of a disadvantage in getting in. Deferred--Manual Review is normal; it simply means your file is actually going to be reviewed by admissions personnel. Decisions are usually made on a rolling basis but you could wait as long as April and even May. Having all the minimum requirements for third year transfer does not guarantee admission. UIUC's transfer admission rate is about 62% for LAS. Chances really depend on seats available and who and how many apply. They treat GPA as the most important factor and work down from the top. Your GPA should give you a fair chance but your choice of Political Science lowers chances somewhat because that major is often one many sophomores at UIUC switch to from other majors leaving a smaller number of seats available for junior transfers (one of the highest admission rates for transfers is usually engineering at about 70% because it generally loses a lot of sophomores rather than gains).

So you are saying that it could go either way? Maybe, maybe not situation.

Also, in terms of when i find out does it help that my application was compleatly ready for review three days after the application process was opened for transfer students. From what i understand, i was the second person to hand in an online application but it took three more days for them to get my transcripts. I figure that people mailing in applications wouldn't have that much of an edge on me, because they would have had to wait until late december for their grades and then about another week or two for their transcripts. They probably would have got them in about a week eariler than me.
