I have a question.

I've heard so much that colleges would rather have an applicant with 2 or 3 ECs that they are passionate in, rather than a dozen that don't really have to do with each other, right?
Well I'm a freshman so I'm trying to figure out what all i want to do the next 3+ years [since the year's coming to an end].
But I'm interested in many different things that don't have to do with each other..!
I like French alot, I want to be pre-med, I like being on the yearbook, I think I'd like to do track if I could get in shape, and I love animals. But if I'm in the French club (officer or not), volunteer at a hospital and join a medical club, am an editor/the editor of the yearbook, do track and get things for that, and volunteer at an animal shelter, I would be passed off as someone who doesn't have one or two true passions. One might say to pick two or three and forget the rest, but I want to do all that^! Again, I would/could be passed off as one of those who joins everything half-heartedly.
Answer please.

Then do it.

I am a Freshman who is honestly involved in an ungodly amount of EC's. I think they tell a lot about who I am however. Find what you love, no matter how few or many things that may be, and do it.

Do the ones you love! I'm in your position, too, only worse, because I have to do MUN or risk getting kicked out of the Academy I'm in, and while I love the academy (languages!), I rather dislike MUN. I think it won't appear that way on my apps because I'll have taken so many related AP courses and things at the community college that would related, but I still worry that my lack of interest will go through.

But in the end, I've decided not to worry about it. I do the things I enjoy- math club, soccer, scholastic bowl, Latin club, chemistry club, volunteering- If the college is going to think that's too many, then I don't want to go to them.

Don't do/not do things JUST for your college ap. Things will work out if you do what you enjoy and have enough common sense to decide what, of the advice given to you on places like CC, is the advice to take.

I'm:
-President of Student Gov
-3 Varsity Team Captains
-MUN
-Habitat For Humanity
-Roots and Shoots
-Run 2 businesses

I love doing every one of those things. You should do what you want. Don't think about it. The moment you have to think about it, it becomes fake and loses its passion. Do what you love to do and write about that in applications. Show your love and you'll get in whereever it is right for youu. Best of luck.
