So right now I’m a junior. Sophomore year I had a D and then an F in chemistry. Right now im taking a life science instead and this year i have made extreme progress from sophomore year, I have mainly Bs and As . Im worried that the grades I got sophomore year will prevent me from going to the CSUs I want. Im planning to take a physical science next year and get As but will they still accept those instead of chemistry??
Also, when you apply for colleges could you write a side note explaining why you had the grades you did?
What was your GPA heading into junior year? Sounds like we’re in the same boat my friend. I had something like a 1.9 or 2.0 heading into Junior year and continued to do poorly the first half. I’ve been doing a lot better of lately with As and Bs. Your SAT scores will help if you do well.
On the CSU application, there is no area to write about grade issues. Depending upon your CSU GPA, there are many options in the Cal State system. The non-impacted campuses such as Monterey Bay, Channel Islands, San Marcos will accept applicants with a lower CSU GPA than the more popular campuses such as SDSU, CSULB etc… You have priority for your local in-service area Cal State which will accept you with lower stats. Calculate your CSU GPA at the end of Junior. Along with SAT and/or ACT scores and Repost so CC posters can help you target schools where you have a good chance at an acceptance. Good Luck.

So will it be okay if i make up my credits for physical science senior year or will that be too late?
I think you would be fine. I live close to CSU Monterey Bay and the campus is very nice…
Marine Bio is a good major there too.
