I hope this isn't bad etiquette, but my shots at Brown, please

"Should I contact an admissions officer and ask if my old SAT scores plus writing will be acceptable, or if I should retake it?"

Sure, why not? I doubt they'll hold it against you.

"Thank you all for your advice and being so helpful. I feel like I fit in really well with Brown, in terms of its educational philosophies and such. I spent some time there recently and fell even more in love with it."

You're welcome, and I really do hope to see you in two years. From what you've said, I agree that you do seem to fit in with Brown's educational philosophies. Still, that doesnt mean you'll automatically get admitted, because there are more people applying who meet the minimum academic standards AND fit Brown's philosophies than they can accept. But I would guess that your chances of getting in are high, especially if you apply ED, which you most certainly definitely absolutely SHOULD!

Yes, ED is great lol

ED was the best decision I've ever made. My teachers, however, might not agree.

lol, Definitely :p

haha. December 10th was both the worst day and the best day of my life. it was raining, and i figured nothing good ever happens on rainy days, and i was crying all day because i was certain i would be rejected from my ultimate first choice school...

that's the problem with ED, though. you get so stuck on your first choice, and you can't imagine going anywhere else, because your first choice is just perfect. and then you think of the possibility of rejection, and you feel really sad.

but i wouldn't worry if i were you, fids. you seem like a great applicant.

"i was crying all day because i was certain i would be rejected from my ultimate first choice school..."

How sad :(

Did you all start other applications in case things didn't work out with Brown ED? I'm thinking about Wesleyan and a few others, too, but I'm really not passionate about any of them.

i applied to wesleyan too!! it seems like a mini-brown to me! which is a good thing, a very good thing!

I started them.

I finished them!

I didn't do a THING with my other apps. But I probably should have.

Wesleyan has a second early decision option, so if you don't get into Brown you can apply binding ED to Wes; the deadline for that app Second ED is something like January 1. (My sister would kill me if she heard me saying this; she hates to think of Wes as a fallback option for Brown applicants).

Yeah, I was thinking of doing that. Wesleyan is a clear second choice, if I don't make it into Brown. But if the Wesleyan deadline is January 1st and it is binding, wouldn't I be unable to apply anywhere else RD?

No, you'll just have to withdraw your apps if you're accepted. You can send them in though.
