I Just Got A Letter...

Clemson is working on it’s national reputation so it’s sending these letters to people who get above a 1230 on the SAT

Do you just send your scores to them to see if you get conditional acceptance or is there something else to send?

nkskippers7, I don’t know because I didn’t hear about the conditional acceptance thing until I got a CD from the school on which it talked about it. I would contact the admissions office to inquire more about this

Shaneomac - My wife and her brothers are alumni (and employed) and my son will be in the Graphic Communications program (a part of the business school). GC boasts pretty close to 100% job placement (historically). The B-School is AACSB accredited and the Michelin Career Center is well-regarded. USC has a more highly regarded international business program, but overall I like Clemson’s position on the I-85 corridor with job options in Charlotte, Greenville and Atlanta. Best wishes…

Yeah, I am instate and got the same letter. It guarantees your acceptance if you apply before December 1. In addition, people who get this “early acceptance” from CU are able to be apart of the Calhoun Honors College at Clemson (no extra $) and possibly garner a full-tuition scholarship as part of the National Scholars Program at Clemson. I really don’t know about OOS, but in SC, Clemson guarantees an education for me if I am accepted because my family makes under 100K. This also applies, for all you SC residents, to USC (called “Gamecock Guarantee”). Most likely, their will be a better package for you due to this, and possible study abroad to boot.

I got the same letter with only a 1240 (M+CR) SAT score (I’m OOS). I have since retaken and gotten 1370 (M+CR). I will most likely retake again to get 1450+ to get into the Calhoun Honors College. It was a pleasant surprise to get this letter back in March. Clemson is now one of my safety schools.

FYI i got the same letter last year, and i got nothing more than OOS tution waived. So it doesnt always mean good scholarships.

well at least you’ll get something
haha

If I sent my June scores, how long should it take for me to get this letter? (that is if they choose to give me the letter)

We sent my daughter’s April ACT scores at the very end of April and received the letter on June 3.

I asked admissions and they told me they sent the letters out to juniors in “early spring” but I don’t see how that is…

My daughter sent her June test scores to Clemson and she received her “provisional” acceptance letter today, July 25. The letter stated that it was sent out because of her SAT scores and her College Board Questionnaire. It also stated that more information regarding completing her online application will be sent out in September. I guess others will receive a letter soon.

My daughter sent her SATs on July 6th and she got her letter today. Nice recruiting technique. (2160 total)

rebelmom, what was your daughters ACT Scores?

hmmm, wonder how it works, my son sent his in May, ACT 34, and didn’t receive anything :(

It probably has to do with how your son answered the questionnaire. I wouldn’t worry if he wasn’t sent a letter.

yeah i wouldn’t worry about it with a 34. he should be fine.

would a 30 be acceptable in order to get this “provisional acceptance”?

I really don’t know what the ACT cut-off score for the provisional acceptance is. It seems that Clemson prefers the SAT in the admissions process (saw that in the Fiske Guide To Colleges). I would contact the admissions office about that.

I got a 34 on the ACT too :)

Sounds like it would be a good idea for us parents to take a peek at how our child answered the college board questions. I think these can be edited.
