I just got my likely letter today!!!!!!

Hey to all the NoVa people...all hoping we actually don't end up at NOVA I assume. I'm at West Springfield in Fairfax County. Not sure exactly how many from my school are applying to Dartmouth, but I do know of 8 or 9 who applied to any combination of Harvard, Princeton, Yale..and I'm assuming they applied to a few more on the ivy circuit. I know 5 who are definately applying to D...I'm just assuming the other 3 or 4.

And Shorty777,
If you think my school is competitive, the public magnet school up the street, TJHSST, is insane. They send like 100 kids to ivies or something rediculous. I know 11 got into Yale last year. But I guess it kinda fits with what they say...."Grades, Friends, Sleep...Pick two"

Anyways, I'll try to review the little lesson on HTML and fancy up my future posts with quotes, italics, big letters and of course colors.

Hi, everyone.

I've just received my "welcome to CC" email and now here I am typing in my post #1. First I typed in my email address wrong, so I had to wait for about 15 minutes to figure out why i wasn't receiving any confirmation email from CC.

Just to introduce myself really quick, I'm from Springfield, VA (same as charlit) and yes I do know him(such an awesome friend!). I love photography and sci-fi movies.

Currently, collegeconfidential.com is my most frequently visited website. Im almost thinking about changing my starting page to CC. haha. Right now, it's yahoo.com.

Anyways, back to what this whole thread is about--->>> likely letters~
so here is my question: where on earth is my likely letter(I want one really bad)! my daily activity is check the mail, go on-line to see if there's any new threads on CC, watch the Matrix, and read reviews about this new camera Canon Digital Rebel XT!!!

Like I said, Im in Virginia and haven't received anything that looks like a likely letter from D.....artmouth. I guess i'll have to make a roundtrip to my mailbox every 15 minutes till someone convinces me to give up. sigh I have loads of hw to do, but it's really hard to concentrate after thinking about these likely letters and stuff. Certainly, March is a very very tough month to me. I tend to sleep a lot when I get nervous....in these days I've been sleeping like 9hrs a day. LOL. I know it's bad not to confront the reality and fall into dream land, but what can I say?

I rub my arms and gaze at the ceiling....just trying to imagine what I would do when i get my decision letters. would I scream? would I collapse? perhaps, I might take a picture of my decision letters and post it on CC. I really wouldn't do that, though. LOL.

....I hope there's a spot for me at Dartmouth.

la la la la la la la ~

Good night guys.

and good luck!!!!!!

Charlit, I live in Fauquier County, and people from my school hardly ever apply to top colleges. In fact, I am the only Dartmouth applicant at my school, so I can't compare my non-likely status to anyone else's. BTW, did you apply to UVa, and, if so, did you receive their "likely" letter?

I live in Manassas (Prince William County), but I go to TJHSST. to charlit, i've def. never heard of that saying, haha (i think most of us can only pick one, hehehe). to cavalier302, yes, I got their "likely" letter. in all, i got three likelies--from Dartmouth, UVa, and UNC-CH. but i didn't feel all fuzzy inside when i got UVa's... considering i'm in-state.

You commute from Manassas to TJ? Jeebus.

I'm in Chevy Chase and I don't understand why all TJ people must say their school's name in full: Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. Can't you just say TJ?

hey, teasefrend, welcome to CC! are you a guy or a girl?

good luck to everyone!

we do call it "TJ". the only reason i said the whole thing was b/c charlit referred to it like that, b/c that's how most non-TJers know it by.

yeah... commuting is not fun (i have a 3-hr ride each day). but only 3 months of this crap left!! =)

my sexual identity is undefinable...

lol, I'm a guy.

haha awesome...hear that, graci? ;-)

Definitely hearing that, blu. Oh, for sure I do. ;)

lol. when is one of the computer geeks that no doubt lurks on this board going to set up a website with all our pics on it??? it was so convenient when megamike did that for the ED Penn people...too bad the words "Visual Basic" and "C++" give me hives. I repeated 8th grade English rather than taking computer programming lol

hee! ^ that was the 8000th post on the D board, 193 till Brown!

Blu,

Will you hit 1,000 by the time Dartmouth catches Brown?

i am from Canada and i haven't heard from Dartmouth :(

Thanks guys! The admissions gods must be smiling on me after all. Yeah, looks like I will be leaving AZ. :) The All-State Auditions were for Orchestra/Band (I play flute) and at least in Arizona, you are definitely welcome to audition as a senior (often seniors, having the most experience, are the most successful)- it's just a one weekend event in April. Anyways, it looks like I'll have some decisions to make come April... If anyone has experience comparing Dartmouth, Williams, Amherst, and Middlebury in terms of school "personalities" (for lack of a better term), let me know...

I'm in NorCal (right above San Francisco) and haven't gotten a likely letter. Seeing what's gone down with some other lucky people, I feel like I prolly would not be getting in if I dont get a letter tomorrow (Monday)..... AHHHH stress stress stress stress stress stress stress

Of course we all call it TJ, I was saying all the fancy letters too ooo and ahh the non DC area people.

Anyways, I didn't apply to UVA because I'm not a VA resident. I applied UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD instead of something like....William and Mary, UVA, and Virginia Tech...all great schools, but UVA is as hard to get in as something like harvard when you're out of state. I have the military family mobility thing, so I have random California residency. That's also the reason I didn't go to TJ. As much as I yearned to be a colonial or whatever they are, I got here a week before school started and was lucky enough to get pupil placed out of the ghetto school.

Oh and taurustorus,
I'm starting to feel the commute woes. Just moved to Lorton this past week and the 30 minute commute is a killer. But you don't have to be at school at 7:30 every morning :-p

But Back to the likely issue...I'm almost positive the UCs don't send them...decisions are supposed to go out around now, but they are usually delayed until the end of the month. And none of my other schools send out anything before April.

Soooo...armed only with my deferral from Stanford, I have absolutely no idea if I'm going to college or not. The next three weeks=hell.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot my friend here TeaseFriend got a likely letter from UVA. So props to the tease friend.

Hey auracon,
You're in Mill Valley? I'm over in San Rafael visiting my dad for spring break. Just wondering, did you ever apply to Branson or like Marin Academy or Catholic or anything?

Ok I've posted three in a row...I'll stop now sorry!

OK, I have spent my whole day thinking about the Matrix and Dartmouth's likely letter. HOWEVER i realized that im in still in high school, and found out this insane amount of hw i need to do.

I have a test in ap bio, lots and lots of hw for ap chem, and a quiz in calc...

does anyone know how to make me stop thinking about these likely letters?
