I know I can't do anything now but...

Now that I'm looking at these threads, I'm noticing that there are a fair number of people with similar statistics as my own applying to schools that I thought it would be ridiculous for me to apply to...Cornell, Brown, etc. I'm wondering if I was too hard on myself and may have had some shot, even if it was a small one. What do you think?

I don't know. Should I have aimed higher and had one or two more reaches or did I have a good assortment already?

Applied to:
Tufts
Barnard
Colby
Vassar
Wesleyan
Macalester
NYU
Univ. of Florida (already accepted, RD I)

I might not be the best person to answer this, but I just want to say that I know someone with similar statistics who go into NYU last year.

yeah, me too.

no one else?

i think your choices in colleges are all solid matches/slight reaches aside from tufts which is notoriously hard RD.

But it's my first choice. :-( (I'm wearing a Tufts sweatshirt as we speak.)

sorry?

what can i say.

you shouldve applied ED for Tufts since they highly favor ED applicants.

i wanted to, but i have a single mother with a low income and so i was worried i might not be able to afford it should i be accepted.

if that is your case, you would have received a good financial aid offer.

probably, but the thing was that my father makes a lot more than she does, but i never see him, so i wasn't sure how much bearing the noncustodial parent forms would have on my aid; i was worried that it would be a lot

did u do ur fafsa?

yeah, finished it 2 weeks ago. expected contribution was 9,000

probably should have done ED II
