oh and i do have 75 hours of comm. service over 3 years, and i did get 2 awards. i was a team captain in football and track, and i took summer school classes at a CC

It's going to be tough based on the current Freshman Profile-
USC Freshman Profile and Admission Information 2008-2009

But, you never know so go ahead and apply. If you don't get in, don't despair. Since you sound like someone who knows how to work hard, keep it up and consider transferring after 1-2 years.

Good luck!

yeah weirder things have happened, esp. from my school with usc. people got in with 3.1's somehow. They rank it in the top 1%

so final verdict?

You might make it, but note that it's highly competitive. And even though you're GPA might go up, it won't catapult you to a "magic number." You have decent ECs, but you'd have to really prove yourself in the subjective sections.

which would those be?

The essays/short answers.

And the "magic numbers" are: 3.7, 2130. It's inexact, but that's a common point to gauge how competitive you are.

In fact, the average uw GPA of accepted students in 2008 was 3.8. The average SAT was 2108. There are students, of course, who are accepted with scores below these numbers. But they are usually students who have shown exceptional talents, character, accomplishments, sports, URM status, special legacy, or other category that USC highly prizes. Do your best to use your essays to show USC why you deserve a spot--and keep your fingers crossed.

i'm going to bump this, even though i think it's a reach for me.

bump10char

I got rejected out of high school with much higher GPA, SAT scores, and AP scores. I am not hispanic but I don't think that will make up for it. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think it is a huge reach for you. Good luck anyways.
