I know that this sounds stupid..I've selected a wrong major and got waitlisted, what should I write?

I don’t know why, but only just now I’ve discovered that I applied to mechanical engineering when my supplementary essays are all geared towards biomedical engineering. I wanted to apply for bio engineering and list mechanical engineering as second or third choice. What should I do now? Should I write about it in my waitlist letter, or should I call them to notify them about my stupid mistake?

It matters which college you mean.

CMU…

bump

Why is this in the essays forum. Go ask in a CMU forum see if those readerso may have experienced this. Or another forum that makes more sense for questions related to majors and CMU.

Mistakes happen to the best of us. Definitely call or email CMU, explain your situation and ask if there is anyone (probs admissions counsellor) you could talk to. I would DEFINITELY CALL bc this situation can be misunderstood easily.

If I recall correctly, CMU requires bio engineering be a second major, so perhaps you knew that when you applied and forgot. Best to check before calling and letting them know that you forgot this basic fact. (if it’s still a basic fact).
