Where's my major????

I was working on the common app, and we were supposed to select a major from the given list. I am interested in Engineering, specifically biomedical. But there isn't a biomedical option. There is biological sciences in a different school but no biology-related major in engineering. So, I'm thinking about putting undecided. Does anyone have any suggestions about a biology/engineering major in CM?

Sounds like the Common Ap hasn’t been updated!
The program used to be a secondary major rather than its own major.

Contact admissions by email and notify them there’s no BioMed showing in the dropdown of the common ap and ask how they want you to select on the common ap.
I’m guessing they will tell you to use the “CIT-Undecided” but be clear in your essay that you are majoring in BioMed by inserting specific reasons for your interest.

Major described here which you probably already knew:
[Carnegie Mellon Biomedical Engineering](http://www.bme.cmu.edu/)

Thank you!

The verbage under the course catalog seems to say that it’s still only offered as a double major, “Course Requirements for the Additional Major Degree.” Are you sure it’s now offered as a stand-alone major, 2012and14?

I suggested contacting admissions b/c the web is confusing.

Agree-- it’s always been a secondary major. The CMU CIT page now lists it with it’s own link without the reference to the other primary major.

So admissions would be best to call-- or even CIT so it’s clear how to designate the interest on the common ap.

Biomedical major is only a double major program and there are no plans to make it a standalone major.

In order to major in BME, you must have a major in one of the other engineering programs.
