can I ask one tiny question. If Bush was such a wrong choice for the presidency (there's no doubt in my mind about that) then why was he elected, not once, but TIWCE?!

He was only elected once, in 2004. And at that point in time he was elected because of the Osama bin Laden video that had just been released. Three months before the election, most projections put Bush losing. Then a new Osama bin Laden video was released four days before the election (October Surprise?) and Bush's ratings soared and he won.

B/c many people are sheep and are too easily frightened by alarms about the "boogieman".

yeah. and people don't seem to like to change presidents during wars.

Thanks Mr. Bush for revitalizing our economy!

i don't understand how people can still support bush, but in retrospect i also have a hard time understanding unintelligent people..

"i don't understand how people can still support bush"

Well, it's really quite obvious if you think about it! People simply adore living in a country with a shamelessly dishonest government, hopelessly trapped in a war with no end and burdened with a failing economy. The idea of impending disasters of cataclysmic proportions introduces an element of suspense into our otherwise mundane lives.

And, of course, let's not forget the thrilling possibility of a CIA operative in Virginia eavesdropping on your phone conversations with your potentially armed-and-dangerous grandma every Christmas.

So, I think we should all commend our president for being a true leader, abandoning any foolish notions of government accountability, civil liberties and national stability, and courageously injecting our lives with a much needed dose of absolute chaos.

I love how people still are sore about Bush winning the 2000 election.

I can't say I love President Bush, but I have agreed with many things he's done.

About the sleeping Congressmen... I find it funny that you have NO PROBLEM paying elected officials to sleep. They do a great job.. It shows. That's why nothing gets done. They are too busy sleeping during sessions if they show up at all. As we all know, there are several who have been travelling the country on the taxpayer's dime partially telling the people how great they are.

The economy's doing so great now! Thank you Mr. Bush!

If you've ever taken a basic polisci/gov class, you'd know that "nothing ever gets done" because of democracy: we allow for discussion of all ideas, competing or not, and attempt to find a happy medium. That's why there's so much deliberation.

Dude, he's done A LOT, far too many noble deeds to list out. However, his greatest, most selfless and noble accomplishment, truly the quintessence of the great Republican party, was the advent of "Freedom Fries."

"i don't understand how people can still support bush, but in retrospect i also have a hard time understanding unintelligent people.."

Typical liberal nonsense that just causes everyone to roll their eyes.

People have different opinions that I have. I recognize that. I do NOT think they are unintelligent. Get off your high horse and realize the same thing or risk looking ignorant.

That's an oxymoron.

Bush butchers every word in the English language and probably walks off the stage thinking to himself "Nailed it!" Thats not even touching his politics which are...well...suspect at best, absolutely terrible at worst.

I do love America though.

Four more years!

my favorite bush quote:

"We're going to remake the muslim world."

lol he could at least be a little more subtle with his racist ethnocentrism

...
whatever, republicans and democrats are equally corrupt and their leaders are equally good bull"crap"pers, which can sometimes be very impressive

i watch george bush's speeches just to see some quality bullcrapping techniques, which i go on to use in real life lol

Why does Bush get re-elected?

Because he actually manages to SYNCHRONIZE with the populace (at the particular time) at a GREATER level than any other potential candidate for president (at the particular time). His combination of personality, appearance, views, and background have all happened to synchronize with (the combination of "personality, appearance, views, and background" that the populace find most appealing) AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME and so that happens to get him re-elected.
