I thought I submitted my Umich application on time but I just checked common app and it says I haven’t submitted and that I missed the early action deadline… I am so worried because Michigan is my top choice and now I have to apply regular decision. Is it a big deal? Or am I worried for no reason? Either way, please help because I am freaking out!!!
Call the school.
A lot of students get in through RD. Since there is a huge number of EAs, a lot of them are deferred anyway - so you could think it as if you were just deferred to the regular round.
On the bright side, it gives you more time to polish your essay/app. Use your time to strengthen your commonapp essay and your why michigan essay. I would not spend too much time worrying about it!
I don’t think it will hurt your chances that much, unless a ton of people are applying from your high school. Michigan claims that it is not easier to get in EA than applying RD.
EA is no boost to application chances. UM defers almost everyone. Our school has between 60 and 70 kids apply to UM every year, mostly EA, and they all get deferred except for maybe 1 or 2. And these kids getting deferred are often Ivy League types- I don’t think Mich is even going through the applications.
You have nothing to worry about, except getting in- it’s hard regardless, EA or RD.
