I missed the SAT =( help!!!

OK so, I missed the May 3 SAT (not because I overslept, but because I thought that it started at 9 XP)

Now I'm taking the SAT for the first time in October... the thing is i'm a junior right now and I will only get my SAT score like the week before I send in my Yale EA application. So basically, I won't have time to retake it before I apply =(.

My question is, now that I have 4 months to prepare, does anyone have any tips on how I can improve so that I can definitely get a 2300+? I don't need to learn the basics because I'm already pretty goodish at the SAT (I got a 222 on my PSAT this year). So really I'm just looking for extra things that really helped people get from the 750 to an 800.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! Because this is actually a serious thing!

Thanks =)

dude, if you really need to take the SAT,
do standby testing, it'll only cost you $21 plus the regular fees.

another question: did you already take the SAT? if no, then you REALLY need to take it in June, because Yale requires SAT II's which you will need October if you haven't taken them already.

you can always take the ACT in September or October, but it's only offered in some states.

do standby in june...

well the reason i'm taking the SAT in october and not june is because i'm taking my 3 SAT IIs in june

I'm thinking about doing the ACT in september... but what is standby testing?

Also, I'm not too worried about everything working out, I know that I'll have all of my required testing completed in time. I'm more worried about the score I get, so can anyone help me out with my original quesiton?

standby testing is when you go to the testing center and wait for an open spot to test when someone else doesn't show.

from what I see you are pretty good in all three subjects.

CR:
read lots of articles, and use the questions from a prep book and apply them to the article.

W:
just memorize the grammar rules.
and for the essay, write one at least 4 every week.
have a list of things that can support your essay ready, so you won't have a mental breakdown

M:
again, just practice.
look for shortcuts that WORK.

Sounds great! Thanks anhtimmy

According to Yale's admission website, November SAT scores usually arrive on time for EA applicants. But hopefully you'll do good enough in October. But just in case, there's always November. good luck!

id say u are screwed and it will not work out for you
this is because you need to get everything in by oct 31st and the sat is on oct 7 r something and it takes 2.5 weeks to get scores back which makes it oct 24 about then it take 1 to 2 weeks to ship the scores to the schools which will be most likely after october

too bad

shoulda been more organized and known when the may one started

foryourownpride

out of curiousity, how many times have you applied to college? None? Ok.

please don't post on my thread when you know nothing about what is allowed. do you realize that people retake their SAT in october all the time? do you also realize that it will only take a week at MOST to send the scores (especially if their rush delivered)? Then finally, do you realize that the application deadline for yale is november and not october?

** from the YALE admissions site ** November is the last month in which SAT I or SAT II Subject Tests may be taken for Single-Choice Early Action consideration. Although we cannot guarantee that November scores will arrive before the Admissions Committee convenes, past experience suggests that they will.

you're an idiot.

eating food

first of all i do not plan to apply to yale or ny of the other ivies so i truely did not know when their deadline was..that was clearly my mistake u dont have to be a jerk about it

second of all have i ever applied to college.no, have i ever missed my SAT date.no,, someone looking to aplly to yale etc does not usually miss an SAT date

3rd u taking it in october means u have one shot... the pressure will be on

^^well you were a jerk about it to him (acting like he was an idiot for missing his test time) so I'd say he has every right to spin it right back at you. do realize how hypocritical that was? you made a mistake while chastizing him for a mistake he made. and both of you should learn that everyone makes mistakes. deal.

anywayyy, now that we've completed Kindergarten Lesson 3: Be Nice To Others, I'd say eatingfood--just prepare as much as you can, you have a lot of time and the summer, so read review books and use the tips you find in them on practice tests you take. and contrary to what foryourownpride said, it seems like this is NOT a one-shot deal. it would be ideal if you met your score goal in october, but if not you can apparently register for the november test as a retake cause according to that yale quote you posted, they take nov. scores too.

don't worry about it so much. look at it this way, you'll get your SAT II's done next month. you can then take the ACT, and if you do well, it will replace ALL your other scores. you can then ALSO take the SAT in October, and if you're not satisfied with your score, take it again in November! If you don't get in early action, you will almost certainly be deferred, and therefore have the time to take the test in December (and possibly even as late as January!).

you should be fine.

Study A LOT!:)

Eating Food, I'm basically in the same boat as you. SAT IIs in June, SAT retake in October. Good luck! :)

me too. i take sat II next week and sat I in Oct. i am like rushing to study for sat II nowadays.

me too i am taking SATIIs in june and SATI in October. i am sure that the scores will arrive on time. but let’s hope we do a great job on the singular chance

I’d say take both the ACT and SAT that are offered for the first sitting in the fall. If something weird happen and you don’t do well in SAT, you have ACT score to fall back on.

so eating food, since all of this happened last year, what ended up happening? did you send a rush report in, send it directly to yale using your free score report thing, etc? did they accept november scores?

yeah i’m actually really curious too, on the off chance that eating will actually see this thread

Okay, eating food, ftw?

Not only does it say that you are going to be in the Yale Class of 2013, you have posted multiple times about how you already were an HYP-cross admit. So, what’s the deal? Obviously you are either SERIOUSLY ■■■■■■■■, and have not been accepted to HYP, or you are a bored Yalie trying to get his kicks. Whatever the situation, why don’t you just grow up?
