I must say that I never expected to encounter so many people in the 99.9999%tile

So im a....megatard?
Whatever IQ isnt everything.

Oh come on, the point of a chance thread is to find out what your peers think of your chances. Thus, what's the point in lying? They don't know who you are, they can't judge you on your scores.
In total truth, I have all 5s on my aps... though only 2300/2400 on my SATs :o I know people with perfect scores, I swear...

I got 128. I'm such a douchebag...

Seriously, there is little point in lying. Its not even funny... Many people need realistic chances and evaluations.

If you look closely, the vast majority of threads are by normal people with decent stats asking for chances for the UCs or other average private schools.

I was tested twice because my parents thought I was crazy. o_o;; 135 the first time, 140 the second.

I'm not the most sparkly glass in the cabinet, but I do alright. =D

I think being insightful is much much more useful than being intelligent. I know a guy who got a 98 on his IQ test but is very insightful, a quality i see lacking in too many 140-ers.

A lot of people on this forum lie through their teeth...That said, many of them do it to gauge where they would stand depending on what stats they have. I have seen many hypothetical scenarios posted all over the place...Not everyone wants to look like some kind of nerd, they just want to know how to improve (and of course, I'm talking about juniors and maybe sophomores)...That doesn't make it the correct thing to do of course, but it does explain it in my opinion...The key is to not be intimidated by anything anyone says. Some people tell the truth and it is easy to identify these individuals as you will see something special or unique about what they say about themselves...The bottomline: Take everything on an ONLINE forum with a grain of salt, since you never really know what is true.

again i repeat... why would anyone lie on an online forum?

the op just seems angry and bitter that other people are better then him.

hahahahahahahahaha

my iq is somewhere between 125 and 135 possibly

this thread is funny

The reason you see so many people with perfect scores is because you are looking at a biased sample. The sample is biased in that many of the people on CC are top students at their school, and have stumbled upon this website. Thus, it does not accurately represent the population. If you were to take a random sample of say 1000 students from any high school, you would be seeing a lot more variability in scores.

You're all a bunch of rotten liars.

I doubt very many people lie on this forum. Though I do recall one "person" claiming to have qualified for the USAMO in eighth grade, when no one from his state had qualified in the past three or four years...he was rather pathological.

No, karan, maybe the OP is making a legitimate statement about how many 'high-scorers' there are. Geez.

I beat everyone, because I got 10's on my AP' tests. :)

A 2400 on the SAT is only the 99.98th percentile and many SAT subject tests have pretty low percentiles for 800s.

The SAT isn't a very good intelligence test. I'd say that the WAIS-III is a good intelligence test, though.

Oh yeah, for some reason you also encounter a lot of threads that go something like this:

"Hey, I have great extracurriculars, but my awards aren't that solid -- just a few IMO gold medals and papers published in Nature...please chance me for MIT, yes, I'm certain I'll be rejected..."

Some people on this thread are unbelievable, but I can believe them because I know someone just like them

Ya, I hate the, "I was state x and went to nationals for y and got a million awards for z and have a 4.0 GPA and 2400 SAT and president of twenty clubs and..." CC is full of so many overachievers it makes us semi-normal people feel queasy.

fizix-"Hey, I have great extracurriculars, but my awards aren't that solid -- just a few IMO gold medals and papers published in Nature...please chance me for MIT, yes, I'm certain I'll be rejected..."

Oh, but look, don't they end up getting rejected 80% of the time? It's cuz MIT is smart, but they want people who will benefit from the environment, not dominate it.

I think the real question here is:

If CC is full of a bunch of over-achieving, straight A, high IQ, all-state geniuses that are heads of at least twenty clubs...

Then HOW in the world do they find the time to randomly come on CC and post for hours on end!?!?

Please someone answer me the meaning of this madness (so I may be able to exploit the wonderful power). mwahaha

^^Because many of those people are already seniors and thus worry less about impressing colleges than they did in previous years.

Not to mention -- many of them do not have social lives

Or they are insomniacs who do it at 3 in the morning or when they have a Sunday off. Not that I'm speaking from personal experience or anything lol ;).
