<p>Nearly everyone here claims to have an SAT somewhere in the 2200+ range... but this is the 99th percentile. This fact lends us the truth that obviously some/the majority of people are stretching the truth a bit.
We needn't panic. If you have a solid GPA, some ECs you've stuck with for a few years and have gotten some leadership in, and some good SAT/ACT scores (hey- a 2000 is still the 88th percentile- top 12% in the nation), in addition to putting reasonable effort into your essay, you'll go to a good and fitting school.</p>
<p>Seriously, either a lot of people are lying here or this is the actual Silicon Valley of anonymous internet message boards.</p>
<p>And to some posters who claim to have taken like 25 APs in addition to 1000+ hours of service + other fantastic ECs + all A's... when do you sleep?</p>
<p>It’s entirely possible that almost everyone is telling the truth. The fact that millions of people take the SAT each year means that there are still a lot of people in the 99th percentile.</p>

<p>I’m not saying everyone is lying, I’m merely suggesting to other posters/lurkers like myself that are crushed every time we see yet another almost perfect “chance me?” thread that this isn’t necessarily normal. Or that we should believe <em>everything</em> we read on an anonymous message board.</p>

<p>Awake and coffee is smelled… I just think we need a little reminder that we are messing with numbers wayyy above the national average, almost to perfect scores… and that we’re all pretty darn smart. Plus, we’re worth more than numbers and acceptance letters ;)</p>

<p>Self-worth = (Prestigious degree*) + 1.5(SAT score) + GPA + .5(rank) + (1,000)(ego)</p>
<p>*HYPSM => 5 points
Other top 50 schools => 3 points
All other schools => .005 points</p>

<p>Pick a number from one to infinity, with one signifying that you think yourself lower than a worm, and infinity signifying that you are…well, whatever you are.</p>
<p>For example, a merely above-average student like the one coldplaying describes would be advised to select a number in the range from three to seven, as their SAT scores should sufficiently depress them to crush their ego.</p>

<p>The GPA should be weighted if you need a self-worth booster. However, if you’re someone whose ego is in the range of infinity, then unweighted is fine.</p>

<p>Haha, this thread defines my life. Looking at all those 2300+ SATs, several APs, already published research papers etc. really blows a big hole in my heart. I would really like to see the decision threads for many of those kids this fall. Silverturtle is a 2400, if I remember right from one of the threads I saw. I am gonna be using your SAT guide to salvage my life’s meaning somehow.</p>

<p>2060 is not bad at all! I have academic friends happy with stuff in the 1900s. Considering it’s over 400 points above the national average ;)</p>
<p>Besides, do you think kids who have actual low scores want to come on here and discuss colleges & post scores and ECs… not <em>usually</em>.</p>
