I need advice...I'm desperate and I don't want to waste time and money.

So I was all set to transfer next spring 2011 when I find out that the UCs and CSUs (well, SF state is still pending, but my guess that they're not accepting spring) aren't doing spring/winter.

I still have to make up about 10 credits at my community college this fall 2010 and I really don't want to take a semester off because I'm on scholarship and might have it taken away from me. I also live in a small town in the east bay and am getting tired of living here. It's so boring! I really want to stay in the Bay Area though.

Here are my choices:

1) Apply to private school(s) for spring 2011
-expensive
-small class size
-easier to get into classes

2) Apply to private school(s) for spring 2011 and also apply to UC/CSU for fall 2011.
I get into a private school for spring and then next fall I transfer to a UC/CSU.

-private school is not as expensive (i'll be there for a semester)
-public school is MUCH more pocket friendly
-it is a hassle to make sure classes will transfer from privates to public
-there will still be overcrowding public schools
-harder to get into classes at public schools

3) Stay another full year at community college, taking more GE classes. Classes I don't even need.

-less expensive
-more time wasted taking classes i don't need
-i have to wait. ahhh!

Is option two even possible? How often do people do it?
I'm in such a dilemma. EHHH. Please help. Any advice, comments?

How about looking for a private that gives you merit for transfers, and stay there?

Know of any good ones for Spring? I’m also looking for ones that give out need-based grants.

“Good” is relative. I happened to notice a few while looking for my son; can’t remember which ones noted merit for transfers but they where schools like Biola, Cal Lutheran, Point Loma, Whitworth

Check the financial aid forum, and search “guaranteed scholarships” here on CC.
