I am. Canadia high school student applying for university next year. I will have to take all standardized tests and stuff.
But I need help. My current GPA is only at 3.4.....
Yet, I am 10-15% above class average in every course. I am working hard and most grades are in the 80-100 range. I have a heavy courseload and have yet to understand how to give it an extra push, to reach 3.8/4 GPA...
Most of you are top students and I need your tips and tricks for acheving stellar grades.
Also, sleep is not a huge factor for me.... I don't care about it, can function without it and I will have time to sleep when I am in a grave.

Thanks.

Hi. . . consider honestly assessing your strengths and weaknesses. Figuring out where you need to improve in study skills, time management and ability to balance your needs and wants are the tricks of life that once you figure out the process to do that, you are much more ready to go down the path of life and probably with greater success. It shouldn’t be about a "brief " quick fix, but lasting. Who wants to continue dealing with the same problems one has in HS, while in college.
Here are some questions to ask yourself: Do I need a tutor in any particular subject. . .for example, math? Am I having focusing issues? What is going on in your life that could be interfering in your optimal performance as a student? Is your course load a bit too tough for you to get A’s which is what you need to raise your GPA? Can you repeat any of the subjects you got low grades in to replace the grade with an A or B, perhaps on line or during the summer? Do you test well or if not, try working on test taking strategies which may benefit you for the standardized tests in the near future. By your comments about sleep, I suspect you aren’t getting enough! We tend to under estimate just how much sleep we need to function optimally. Try an experience and get more sleep for two weeks, rather than 4-6 hours, try to get 7 - 8 hours and see if your cognitive functioning improves.

I can’t stress enough to try to find your “match” in colleges/universities for in the long run you are likely to be much happier and more successful. Good luck!
