i'm currently applying mount holyoke RD along with other schools. but when i think about it, i love mount holyoke more than the schools i'm applying to. i can't help but picture myself at mount holyoke and i want to get the college admission process over with.

i just want to let the admission officers know that the school is #1 on my list. but considering the schools i'm applying to, it doesn't seem like it. i had my interveiw with an officer last month, but i don't think it went well.

should i apply ed II? or just stick with regular?

i told my teachers to send in their recommendations by jan. 15. i don't want to be rude and have them rush their letters. i know i should have thought it before thoroughly but an all women school seems more appealing to me than ever before.

If FinAid is at all a consideration, I wouldn't apply ED II.

If MHC is your #1 choice, though, I would make that clear to the admissions office, probably by writing them a brief note, outlining "Why MHC is my #1."

Especially if other schools are "more prestigious" or "highly ranked," it would be good to let MHC know they're your #1. My D went to one of the lowest ranked schools on her list and is as happy as the proverbial clam because of the "fit." Go for it.

Hmmm, yeah, same here. I really love MHC, but I'm so stuck because I need finaid. I suggest making your "Why Mount Holyoke" as great as an MHC ED essay! You'll do fantastic, I'm sure.

FinAid was definately a consideration for me. I got accepted ED I and had a fabulous package as i've heard others have also recieved. So I wouldn't worry about that tooo much. I love MHC and if you like it half as much as I do... apply ED II since you would go there over ur other choices anyway (or at least that's what it sounds like.) Good luck to you!

MoHoEd, if FinAid is a consideration, you don't dare assume what works for another will work for you. Different families, different circumstances, different EFC's, etc. Every year there will several threads in the Parents Forum from students wailing that they got accepted ED but the FinAid doesn't work and can't they just bail on the commitment.

In MHC's favor, they tend to be more generous with FinAid than Smith or Wellesely. But. That's a generalization and you really shouldn't apply that to specifics.

Yes you are correct that everyone has a different situation...but i was directly refeering to the fact that MHC meets the need of every student. That could mean a totally different thing for everyone but it implies that you recieve a package that is managable.

Many colleges purport to meet "need." MHC is better than most in doing so. But "manageable" is still by their definition, not the student's, not the student's family.
