I need help finding some reaches and matches/ Is UVa in the question?

<p>I'm a male from New Jersey.
High school junior.
I need to figure out some match/reach/target schools. I am really interested in UVA but i feel out of state might keep me from getting in.</p>

<p>Freshman year: Honors Language Arts (B+), Honors Bio (A), Honors World History (A-), Geometry (A), Spanish 2 <a href="A">no honors offered at my school</a>, Photography (A), Band (A). GPA= 4.31 W; 3.86 UW</p>

<p>Sophomore year: Honors LA 2 (B+), Honors Chem (A-), AP US History 1 (A-), Honors Algebra 2/Trig (B), Spanish 3 <a href="A">no honors offered at my school</a>, Computer Applications (A), Band (A).</p>

<p>After two years, my cumulative GPA is 4.285 W; approx. 3.8-3.85 UW</p>

<p>Junior year: Honors LA 3, Honors Physics, AP US History 2, Honors Precalculus, Honors Spanish 4, Technical Drawing.</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:</p>

<p>Marching band all 3 years (drumline. Bass drum freshman year and toms sophomore-junior year). Our marching band is very competitive, we enter competitions each year and either win or come in second.
Concert band and symphonic band-freshman and sophomore year
Junior jazz band-freshman and sophomore year (guitar)
Weekly guitar lessons
In a rock band with some friends, we play gigs and may record an album.
Layout editor for the school newspaper (soph-senior year). Our newspaper also wins national awards.
FBLA
Student council-junior class treasurer
NHS inductions this year
Varsity golf
I also went to a summer business conference called Understanding American Business. 1 of 3 kids in the school to go.
I have done around 50 hours of community service (not all that much yet) volunteering at my local church and at local hospital events. I also teach CCD which is one hour a week for the whole school year.</p>

<p>Oh yeah, SAT's and stuff too.
I took a practice SAT and a practice ACT.
SAT- 610 m/500 cr/ 640 w (this was the middle of the summer)
Projected score= 630 m/ 650 cr/ 660 w</p>

<p>ACT composite=27 (also mid summer)
I can probably get it up a few points.</p>

<p>So here is my resume. Please let me know what colleges I should look at, and if UVA is even in the question for me.</p>

<p>As you are right now, you don’t have a very good shot. Your GPA and course load are good, but your test scores aren’t; UVA’s ACT 25th percentile is 27, and its SAT CR 25th percentile is 600, and that includes in- and out-of-state students.</p>

<p>BUT</p>

<p>You’re only a junior. Study for your ACT/SAT more, keep your grades up (or higher), and do what you can for your extracurriculars, and you might have a better chance.</p>

<p>For that matter, you should focus more on school right now and worry about college options toward the end of the year.</p>

<p>Since you are looking at UVA OOS I have to assume you are not looking at FA…</p>

<p>UVA does meet need for OOS students which is rare for a state school.</p>

<p>To tell you the truth I haven’t even thought about FA…chances are I won’t get it though. I’ll just be happy if I get in</p>

<p>My advice would be to try to take a few more AP classes (if your school offers more) and really work hard to studying for the SATs. UVa can be in the question for you, but it will be a far reach with your test scores right now.</p>
