@scholarme I’ve done a lot of that SAT googling. I have had njit on and off of my list.
I wasn’t super interested.

I’m mostly concerned my GPA is low and my ECs are bad and I hope to get into a good college.

I don’t have the time to go though all the cds in each college for you, just use 3.12 and 1790 to look up each school’s 75% admit rate and it can easily come up with a list. Be honest with you. Sorry being harsh, but it is reality.

You also can use CC’s college search and punch in your stats, it will give you a list.

Bump

Have you done the things that experienced posters recommended yet? What are the results? How have you pared things down so far? The ball is in your court.

Are you going to be able to handle all the math for Comp Sci? I am concerned that the math and sciences are going to weed you out.

How have your grades been since you have begun treatment? What math are you in now and what grades are you getting?

@erin’s dad I’m not sure what you’re asking
@mom2collegekids
I got an A on my Calc AB review test for my Calc Bc part 2 class.
We haven’t had much work get in senior year

Post 19, google the CDS for each school to see if you’re a fit.
Post 23, use the Supermatch engine to see how it compares to your current list.

A, what does CDS stand for

B. I’ve used supermatch before and usually finds colleges I know I’m not interested in or won’t attend.

I think most of my colleges are reached and I wanted some other opinions on where I have a chance because I’m concerned about where I’ll be accepted.

CDS = Common Data Set

Apparently you think your medical/mental conditions have been cured and you are ready to excel. Based on your list, most of the schools are reaches, as you indicated before. Slippery Rock is the only one I can recognize you will have a chance.

You have to face the fact about your past, unless you can do 2300 as your friend in the next SAT setting, you have not prove to those reach unis such as Case Western anything to take on you. There are two things I can recommend:

Take a lower ranked 4 year college such as NJIT, Ramapo or Robert Morrision and excel in that, become top student in school with all respects: Straight A, Class Pres, Paper Editor, Start Robotic Club, Debate Cap…etc. and you will succeed to get in to top CS programs such as CMU or Stanford.

Go to a Community College and get nothing but A+ for one or two years and transfer to one of the better schools on your list, ie Case

Thanks for your options I do appreciate it but I hope to go to college straight away and excel right away and I realize many of the colleges are stretches

That is why I gave you option #1. If you insist on your list, go ahead, nothing can stop you. But do not discount CC supermatch. NJIT, Robert Morrison, Seton Hall are not bad schools. If you are top student there you will go some places.

I, personally was in worse position than you and went to a low ranked college. Even I did not get the top honors at graduation, I was able to have a respectable job lined up at graduation.

A low ranked college does not mean the quality of education is bad, they are less selective for sure, but they have weed out classes to keep their graduates in demand.

@artloverplus I suppose I’m mostly curious what colleges i do have a chance at, I would like to aim as high as I can, but I realize I do not belong at a top university but I would like to reach high

In your list there are few I could not recognize in selectivity which you may want to do further Research
Ohio north
Shippensburg
Slippery rock

CC Supermatch indicate you may qualify Rutgers Newark. What is wrong with that? If you do well you may transfer to NB.

Keep your reach schools to three or four that you liked the most. Visit all to make sure you like the college life there.

I don’t know what this means. Have you considered Drexel. I think if you can, you should try to go to a school with good recruiting and/or coop.

@classicRockerDad I did like that it was so heavily influenced by comp sci and tech majors.
Drexel Is also too city like and downtown for my comfortablity

@sstephen2015 you are going to have to balance out the pros and cons. Have you visited campuses such as Drexel? Have you made some kind of spread sheet to list pros/cons and also maybe order some of the priorities and make sure you are not mixing in minor things in your thought process (there was a student on CC that seriously had a certain carry out food be ‘good’ a driving college consideration…).

Have you focused/concentrated on getting the testing done by the time the schools will consider?

You do have to select some schools now with the application process - otherwise you will run out of time and perhaps miss applying to a school that would be a good match for you.

Maybe get some additional input from parents, friends, GC, etc - they may provide some insight.

What do you love about CS and where do you think you will get developed the best - this will happen probably the best at a school which is a good ‘match’ for you. You do have to be able to get through any school’s process - with weeding out students who won’t make it through their program.

If a school is ‘perfect’ except it is in a city instead of a less populated surrounding, how much is that going to affect you as a student?
