I registered and everything at SMC but I need an instructor approval code to register this late. I'll see about e-mailing her I guess.

Hey, I think the only chance you have right now is to get on the phone with Cal Berkeley admissions. Cause if you do this with out consulting them i think you will find yourself in trouble. It is much better to contact them now and see what they suggest rather then doing the 3 units and waiting to see how it unfolds. You have nothing to lose if you call them so call. Goodluck by the way. Did you apply to ucla as well. and i have another question when you were filling out your application it should have shown you all the classes that were cct or whatever, did a mishap happen or what. goodluck.

If you take Sandkicks advice, which I think is good advice, make sure you have alcohol or something to break nearby. Berkeley puts you on hold for ages and--after your 5-20 minutes of holding--the person on the other end acts like you're imposing on them by making the call. It's like they're determined to keep individual phone calls to a two minute maximum.

hahahahaha. I can understand where you are coming from Eschatos. But I have to say when i visited Cal Berkeley last month everyone of the staff members i ran into were very nice and tried their best to help me with my questions. I hate talking on the phone by the way.ahhhhh.

Ah, I too have a vehement hatred for the phone. In any case, I'm glad you had some success with admissions in person. Come to think of it, I rather enjoyed my experience as well. You can't beat being provided a reason to drink.

Well, the best I could find were classes that started on the 17th. I emailed a bunch of teachers at SMC and WLAC explaining my situation and asking for a late-add. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

What courses are you looking into.

i am in a similar position as you, not all of my units that i thought would transfer did. hopefully they will give us a spring admission, but who knows.

there are people who have gotten into berkeley with missing prereqs, so clearly they only selectively enforce these rules. i think its a question of, if they actually said "we make exceptions" then they would have that many more people trying to skirt their admission requirements.

do you have any AP credits...? I believe those can be applied to your unit count to fill up some requirements. Just in case.

"i am in a similar position as you, not all of my units that i thought would transfer did. hopefully they will give us a spring admission, but who knows."

The 60 unit requirement is FAR MORE IMPORTANT than major prereqs. Spring admission is given to students who apply to fall but barely miss getting a spot, not for students who don't meet minimum requirements.

I'm looking into whatever I can get. I think there was art appreciation and poli sci... I forget.

Oh, enginenr9, for a shred of hope: there was a girl last year admitted for spring that didn't have IGETC done.

yeah, who knows. hoping for the best.

Again, IGETC is reasonable. 60 units is NOT. The 60 unit requirement is 'non-negotiable'. That is a UC SYSTEMWIDE requirement for all junior transfers.

We're only talking about them bending the "prior spring" rule. We've seen them do it elsewhere.

family working at berkeley who previously inquired on my behalf were told that that's not necessarily the case, but no guarantees. im keeping my fingers crossed.

i also read on the forums about someone who was admitted to another UC with the condition that they take care of their deficiency (don't remember what it was) during summer prior to their fall tranfer. nothing is set in stone.

I wouldn't put much hope in that approach. I would put much, much more weight in the approach of trying to grab an additional class that is technically part of the spring semester, one that is short.

That's what I'm doing. But if eginenr9 or I get in otherwise, drinks are on you.

Thanks for all your help, by the way. Maybe drinks are on me.

wish i could take late start courses, but between 19 units and work i really don't have time. its too bad that berkeley stopped doing spring enrollments. wouldn't mind another semester at cc, but two more and id really just be spinning my wheels. in terms of my major, in terms of all college of l&s requirements, i'm done with CC. just a matter of those damn units.
