I really need help and knowledgeable opinions and advice!!!

I am currently an undergraduate freshman at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. I am going to be double majoring in Psychology and Philosophy in anticipation of law school. I have a 3.9 GPA and am getting an 4.0 for my spring semester. I am in the Honors college here and on the Dean's Honors list. This is all background information. I am trying to Transfer to UW-Madison because it seems like it would help me get into a better graduate school, say Harvard for example. They have deferred my decision until my spring grades to "ensure my continued academic progress," and I am at a loss as to what to do. If I choose to stay at UW-Milwaukee I will receive over $12,000 in grants (which is amazing), am guaranteed a job for next year, will graduate with an honors degree, and know a professor that I can do research with. If I transfer now (given that they accept me) I would receive little to no financial aid because they deferred me and many of their funds will be gone and I will have a hard time finding an apartment to live in for the year. I guess what I am getting at is whether the prestige offered at UW-Madison compared to UW-Milwaukee is worth all of the strife that goes along with this transfer. I am utterly at a loss as to what to do. I don't know how much Harvard would look at my undergrade school. If it makes little to no difference then I might as well not even transfer...I know this seems to be an overused topic but i really need advice given my individual case I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you.

If I were you, I’d stay at Milwaukee. If you’re excelling there, as you clearly are, and are happy, don’t worry about the what-ifs. Competitive grad schools want to see that you’re making the absolute best of your resources. Continue doing well, work hard in your research, and remember to enjoy college, too!

/advice from a high-schooler

No-brainer: stay at Milwaukee. Having a close relationship with a professor who will work with you on research and can write you a great letter of recommendation is worth far more in graduate school admissions than the name of your school. UW-M may not have the grab of UW, but it’s not U of Phoenix, either.

Also, don’t get hung up on a “name” for graduate school, either. Harvard doesn’t have the best grad programs in every field, not by a longshot.

/college grad, starting grad school in the fall

ok well thank you for the advice :), it was much appreciated.
