<p>Hi. I am an out of state student from florida, hoping to gain admission to William and Mary. Please rate my chances. Any comments are appreciated.</p>

<p>My stats are:</p>

<p>SATI: 2280, 770 CR, 780M, 730W
SAT II: 800 Chem, 660 U.S., 800 Math IIc
ACT: 35
PSAT: 229, national merit semifinalist for sure, finalist probably</p>

<p>Rising senior in IB program</p>

<p>6 ap classes taken, 6 in senior year, as well as IBs
Senior year: Macro, Comp. Gov., Stat, Calc BC, English Lit., Bio</p>

<p>IB Chem SL: 5
IB Spanish SL:6</p>

<p>APUSH: 5
AP Euro: 4
AP Calc AB:5
AP Eng Lang: 4
AP Chem: 5
AP Spanish: I had to take an alt alt this year, and Collegeboard never wrote an exam for it . I would have gotten a 3 though.</p>

<p>I have a 3.5 unweighted GPA and a 4.17 weighted GPA. I have taken just about every course honors since freshman year and have gotten a's and b's in all of them. However, I hope the admissions people take this into account, as I go to an EXTREMELY hard school, ranked #2 or #3 in the country. Also, my rank is quite low, 70/350 (I think). But I'm not even sure if my school sends rank to colleges</p>

<p>What are my chances of getting in?</p>

<p>If I'm rejected, I can always go to UF, but I'd prefer not to.</p>

<p>I am fairly certain that given your glowing ECs, IB program/high GPA and strong SAT scores, you've got a darn good chance of getting in.</p>

<p>Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. Believe it or not, at my school, I'm not considered an excellent applicant. But then again, I guess that's why we're #3 in the country.</p>

<p>I appreciate all of your help. After visiting, William and Mary seems more and more to be the right match for me. I hope to be there next september.</p>

<p>That is crazy? Not an excellent applicant... I wouldn't compare yourself to your classmates then. We have gotten quite a few 35s and 1600s on SATs in my school but that is not the norm so I wouldn't worry about them. You will have MANY options when you apply.</p>

<p>I can't imagine you not getting in. I'm a freshman at William and Mary and I'd say you're a very competitive candidate. Just for comparison's sake here were my stats when I applied (accepted ED):

<p>My school didn't rank students and we were a fairly competitive class. Out of 60 kids around 6 ended up in the Ivy League and ten or so in places like Duke or Georgetown. I was president of Art Club, Film Society, Music Union (which I actually founded), and editor-in-chief of the newspaper. I was inducted into the Quill and Scroll society, I was captain of a varsity sports team and was mentioned in the state newspaper as a "Player to Watch." But I really think they look for students with diverse interests and unique perspectives. I wrote my required essay as a highly descriptive narrative about painting in my attic studio and my optional essay on my favorite band and their ability to add an epic soundtrack to the mundane errands of every day life. Above all I'd focus on writing an essay that sticks with the reader because they have to read hundreds a day and anything that sets you apart is good.</p>

<p>I think you're in. you're academic records are super! one thing that you're not a VA resident, but I think you can get in.</p>

<p>One more question, if it's not oo much trouble:</p>

<p>When filling out my common app, I did not see the section where it said to list your AP Scores in the academic honors section. My AP scores are pretty good, so I'd like to send them. How would I do this?</p>

<p>I'm pretty sure you go through college board to send them</p>

<p>My school sent them as part of my transcript after asking whether we wanted them sent or not. Or you can list them in the "other info" part where they appear at the end. You don't need to have college board send them until you decide where you are going next May.</p>

<p>My S went to one of those NYC magnet high schools...one of the ones that you see on "best schools" list. Although it didn't rank, I doubt he would have been even in the top half of his class. He's a (very happy) member of the class of '11 at W&M. Never mind your class rank, OP; follow banditqueen's excellent advice and you'll be admitted.</p>
