At my school you take an english writing placement and they place you in either, 110, 111, or 112 (which you take in the spring) I placed into 112 but I'm in this learning community that requires me to take an elective in the learning community. The only one I could fit into my schedule without having to drop this philosophy class I really want to take was 111. Now...am I going to be completely bored out of my mind in this class? or will it still be somewhat interesting/challenging.

probably not. This is assuming 111 is probably freshman comp 1, and 112 comp 2, with 110 being the very basic catchup class. Plenty of people take comp 1 first semester.

plenty of people will take the remdial english also, last statistics i saw, foprbet the site was i think nearly 40% of college students took remdial english classes.

110 is remedial. 111 is an intoductory writing class. 112 is Varieties of Writing and it's the only 'required' writing class. The thing is: since I placed out of it, I fear it will be easy and a general waste of my time.

In any case, it should be good for your GPA. Introductory composition courses are always a good introduction to college writing, skills for which can be useful in any class. You're lucky you can get credit for it - I placed out of the composition requirement at my school, and then at registration there was a speech about how important the skills you learn in the comp class are - and when I said I still wanted to take the higher level intro comp course, my adviser told me that I could not get any credit for it. I still think I would benefit from it; I guess I'll never know.

Drew, I doubt you'll be bored in a composition class. The two composition classes I took were invaluable as a foundation for the rest of my classes.
