How is this possible?

I thought it was out of 800.

I had a 760, then I put in my essay, which was a 10, and it spat back out 810.

Is this possibly right?

I had 100% correct improving paragraphs, 89% improving sentences, and 93% sentence errors. Does this add up?

lol. great joke, sort of.

nothing to see here, move along.

You obviously don't understand.

I'm asking if it's possible to score above 800. I asked the teacher and she said that it is possible; something about how I went above where the curve puts the top or something? But I'm asking now because that didn't make sense.

The thing I'm wondering about is that it seems like a 10 essay would bring a 760 down...?

This is not a joke, I got a 2080 composite which is very achievable. 630 math, 640 CR, 810 (?) writing.

It's not a surprise that I did well, I'm a very good writer (I'm not going to brag with details), but I don't understand how the computer program scored this.

Does anyone have a serious response?

Drop the course immediately.

Here, analyze it yourself.

Math, Critical Reading, and Writing Skills scores can range from 200 to 800. The maximum total score is 2400. This score is your starting point to begin your SAT improvement. An increase of 100 or more points can be achieved if you focus on improving your critical skills.
Section 2: Critical Skill Analysis
Your critical skills ARE YOUR WEAKEST SKILLS based on the number of questions you answered incorrectly or left blank. Work on these skills first to raise your score the most in the least amount of time! Begin with your 4 weakest math skills, then your 3 weakest reading skills and finally, your 2 weakest writing skills. If you have time, also work on your remaining critical reading and writing skills. By answering just one or two more questions correctly in each critical skill the next time you take the SAT, you'll raise your score by more than 100 points.

If the instructor believes it is possible to score above 800 on a single section, then I agree that you should drop the course. The instructor obviously has no idea what she is talking about, and there fore does not deserve to be teaching a course about the SAT.

Well then what about the computer program??

I just want to know what I should have gotten on the writing section, with an average 94% of the multiple choice correct and a 10 on the essay?

uh, well since the SAT is out of 2400, don't you think it would be just a little odd that you can get a 810 on writing. So how would the score add up? 810+800=800=????

btw, what prep company is this?

Thats what I said to her.

Her explanation was that the "10" was basically an 800, plus a 10 on the essay.

Please don't think I'm stupid here. I just want to do as well as I can on the SAT. I'm very confused about this.

Ok guys leave the guy alone...
Most likely the test isnt a direct SAT but rather a SAT training test. If this isnt the case then the score may have been inputted in wrong or a computer glitch may have occured. I would encounter the teacher another time and explain the situation; if he/she still believes an 810 is a feasible score then I would drop the course because obviously his/her trainning program regarded of breathing air. What company is this?

Maybe the 810 is intrepreted differently by your tutor. She probably meant that in a score of 800 and a 10 on the essay. So probably it's just her short term way for saying that.

Well, this isn't what she told me, it's what the computer told me. (We take the tests and plug in our answers on the computer and it spits out a grade.)

Its not affiliated with any company, it's through my school. I don't think it's a bad program, considering my score went up 300 points in 4 days.

But what SHOULD my score have been, knowing that I got:

100% Improving Paragraphs
89% Improving Sentences
93% Sentence Errors
10/12 Essay

Is that really 800 material?

I think the 94% MC (which should be 46 out of 49 correct or a raw score of 45) would get your a 75 or 76 scaled MC subscore. Combined with the 10 essay, I'd say your score should be around 750 or 760.

Definitely not. Because like 5 wrong on the MC section is like below a 700 with a 10 essay. I got like 6 or 7 wrong with a 10 and it was only a 680 so that is definitely not a 800. I don't even think it's in the 700s range.

Well, before the essay screwed up the scoring system, it was giving me a 760, which I think is pretty much on par with where it should be.

But the 10 might bring that down a bit.

If I was getting considerably more wrong on the CR and math sections than I was in the writing (probably 2x as many wrong), and I got 640 and 630 on those, then I don't see how it's likely that I'm below 700 for writing.

Looking at the test, I have 4 wrong on the MC for writing out of 49.

well 4 wrong? hmm that's about the early 700s i think. 720 maybe or 740?

OK, I'm happy with that.

At least the grading for the MC wasn't too far off.

If I can just get my CR and math up into the early 700's I'll be set :)
